Protect Your Photography Equipment with Porter Case
Porter Case is known for making great cases, including photography cases. With air travel restrictions becoming increasingly tight, packing and protecting your gear properly continues to remain in the forefront of the traveling photographers’ mind. Gary Pond, president of Porter Case (who have sponsored both the January 2007 Photograph of the Month as well as the PhotographyCorner.com 2006 Photograph of the Year Contest), tells us a little more about about what makes Porter Case a leader in heavy duty cases.
Traveling, especially when traveling on airplanes, is a cause for worry with most photographers. What has PorterCase done to ease those worries for photographers?
Our design goal has always been to make hard side wheeled airline carry on size cases with our patented built in CART, so that our customers can roll their important valuables on board with them and check through their other items.
What benefits does a PorterCase have over other photography bags?
We offer hard side protection, combination lock, large 4” easy roll wheels with ball bearings, 40”+ extension handle system, a variety of travel accessories like the Saddlebag, and of course our patented Case to CART design that will carry up to 200 pounds of other baggage on top.
In addition to photography cases, PorterCase also makes a wide variety of other cases. Can you briefly touch on some of the other cases you manufacture?
One of our newer cases is a light weight ATA shipping case that we designed to work specifically with a Porter Case. The Stowaway 20-20 case has ridges on the top and bottom that match those found on the lid of a Porter Case by the handle that has been transformed into the Cart. This design allows the Stowaway case to sit and securely nest on top of the Porter Case and a second Stowaway can be stack on top of it. This makes a very nice travel system for the Road Warrior who travels with lots of gear.
Many of our users are Speaker/Trainers who travel with a digital projector and notebook computer, so we have some models that we call AV cases. There are Mobile Office models for a notebook computer with accordion portfolio in the lid. Several models have layered foam for a totally custom interior. And, it all began with a plain Standard Case interior for cloths or other valuables.
Many customers buy their Porter Case specifically as a carry on for their equipment. But, the original idea was for it to be a Mom and Pop retiree case to help them travel the world in a case that always had a CART when they needed it. You would not believe some of the stories that people have told me about how they have used their Porter Cases… or maybe I should say the Cart.
