Here’s another round of interesting/essential photography-related news.

  • Darren Rowse of Digital Photography School has released a list of tips for shooting subjects in candlelight called 14 Tips for Great Candlelight Photography. Some of it is pretty obvious, but overall, some great pointers!
  • After a huge discussion following Reuters’s release of doctored photos of the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict in the summer of 2006, the global news agency’s Editor-in-Chief David Schlesinger has released new Photoshop guidelines for its photojournalists. The new Photoshop rules include specific limits to altering images with particular editing tools.
  • Researchers at Rice University recently developed a prototype digital camera that can deliver high quality images with just a single pixel. Instead of using a traditional CCD or CMOS sensor design, the single-pixel camera uses a micromirror array and a process of compressive sensing.   • Press Release Lyra believes digital camera worldwide shipments will exceed 130 million by 2010, a 10% CAGR (compound annual growth rate), despite market saturation and camera phone competition.

  • Adobe has updated Bridge CS3 to address a variety of issues. To install the Beta 2 you must have the original Photoshop CS3 beta installed. You will need to use your Adobe ID to log on in order to download the update. The download and additional info is available on the Photoshop CS3 product page.
