1-800-flowers.com Corner-Exclusive Photo Contest

A lot of people like to take photographs of flowers, right? I mean, just look at our Flowers & Plants forum has more than 16,000 posts! Here’s a great opportunity to win some prizes with your flower photos.

1-800-flowers.com Contest

This contest is two-fold. There’s the main contest, and there’s also a PhotographyCorner specific mini-contest. Basically, the premise of the contest is this (as written by the 1-800-flowers.com people):

Tell us where out next “Fields of the World” arrangement should come from! Is there a special memory, place, or family heritage that can help inspire us? Upload your photo with a descriptive caption and tell us the inspiration behind it.

Sounds simple enough, eh? A photo, a caption, and a mini-story. Sounds like something I would do for a Contest Corner Challenge. Here’s all the official wording, etc on the main contest:

This summer, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM is looking for photographers to help us determine where we should go next! Tell us what you think and your photo could…
  • Be FEATURED IN YOUR VERY OWN CBS OUTDOOR BILLBOARD IN ONE OF 10 CITIES NATIONWIDE
  • One LUCKY GRAND PRIZE WINNER WILL HAVE THEIR PHOTO FEATURED IN TIMES SQUARE, NYC. They will also attend flower design class with world renowned expert floral designer Jane Packer to learn how to bring their design to life!

How It Works

(1) Tell us where out next “Fields of the World” arrangement should come from! Is there a special memory, place, or family heritage that can help inspire us? Upload your photo with a descriptive caption and tell us the inspiration behind it.
(2) 10 finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges and winning billboards posted in their city.
(3) The 10 Finalists are posted at http://1800flowers.eprize.net/fieldsoftheworld/ and the community will vote on who should win the grand prize.

Contest Prize Details

One (1) Grand Prize:

  • Trip for two to NYC to attend the “unveiling of their CBS Outdoor billboard,” airfare and hotel accommodations.
  • Attend a floral workshop at Jane Packer’s Flower School in NYC
  • Four (4) piece Helium Fusion Luggage set from Delsey luggage provided by Macy’s (www.delseyluggage.com)

Ten (10) Finalist Prizes:

  • Each finalist will receive three (3) Fields of the World bouquets
  • Featured in their own Outdoor billboard in their local market

Thank You Prize:

  • All entries will be given a 15% discount as a thank you for their participation.

Pretty sweet group of prizes, eh? I’ve checked out some of the entries, and I know we can do better.

But wait… there’s more! There’s the PhotographyCorner EXCLUSIVE contest. In addition to the prizes listed above, we’re holding our own mini-contest, and 1-800-flowers is giving us the prize! As long as we get at least 20 entries (honestly, how hard could that be??!), we’ll hold our own vote (I’ll post it up in the blog, and we can vote in the forums), and the winner will receive The Bouquet of the Month Club Membership:

What could be more thoughtful than a fresh flower bouquet - especially when they arrive month after month! Extend the joy of sending beautiful flowers for months on end with our Arrangement of the Month Monthly Gift Club(sm). We’ve picked a signature arrangement for each month of the year and our florists will deliver them automatically with your best wishes.

And when you win, you can even send a bouquet to me… (just kidding… sort of… I like flowers… seriously… my office is pretty drab… brown desk, gray walls… er… nevermind…).

So here’s the deal:

First: go find or take your best photograph (as described above), and submit it to the main contest (click here to submit your photo).

Second: email me your photo and caption (I don’t need the mini-story) with the subject “1-800-flowers Contest” (so it doesn’t hit my spam box). UPDATE: Remember to include your username as well!!

Thirdly: We vote on the photos in about a week, and declare the winner.

Fourthly: I almost forgot - you have to have your entries in by September 3, 2007 11:59pm EST (that’s 3:39 am on September 4th in GMT).

That’s it! So go find and submit your photos! May the best Corner photographer win!
