You have 50 words to describe yourself: Go.
Fifty words?! That’s way too many! Okay here goes. Ndroo loves photography, hates convention, hates equipment talks, loves fun, loves beer, smokes too much, way too fat, losing too much hair, hates questions like this, can’t describe himself... is that 50 already? Oh nevermind.

Dragonfly Mug Shot
Where do you call home? What kind of impact does living there have on your photography?
Home is here in this little island called Singapore. There are many people here who are always complaining that there are not much photo opportunities here, and how people living in other countries get nicer photos because they have nicer landscapes/cityscapes. I do not agree with that point of view, as I feel that you get to squeeze more ideas out of your creativity department when you are left with less ‘ready made’ beautiful scenes.

Mini Racer Taken with Lensbaby
When you’re not out taking photographs, what do you do for a living?
I hate this question. Haha! Okay, I pound on a computer keyboard to make that little few bucks a month. Okay, seriously, I do software programming for a living.

A Corn Job
What do you enjoy most about the Corner?
Friendly people with way less ‘war’ and arguments between members. Less talk about equipments and more emphasis on the art of photography itself.
How has the Corner helped improve your photography?
Being able to share my works with other members allow me to receive feedback on some bizarre works that I’ve done. Strange enough, most of them were rather well accepted and that keeps me going, hunting for more new (and bizarre?) ideas. I love it when people do accept my way of seeing things.

Fishes in the Sky
What is your background/training in photography?
Picked up my first camera at the of end 2003 by accident. I was drinking (as usual) in a local bar when I saw some guys holding some cameras and discussing about it. A friend who was with me said ‘See those guys? They are just trying to show off!’. Didn’t really know what he meant but that was when I decided that maybe I should try photography! I picked up my first camera which was an Olympus C5050, and at that time didn’t know anything about forums, thus ended up alone trying to figure things out. I went to the local zoo alone almost every weekend, trying out different settings on the camera on different subjects. That’s my so-called ‘training’.

Mode of Transports in Shinjuku
What equipment is in your camera bag?
Canon 20D, Canon 50mm f1.4, Lensbaby 2, Sigma 30mm f1.4, Canon 200mm f2.8, Sigma 10-20, Tamrom 90mm macro, Leica Digilux 2, IR modified Canon G2, Fujifilm F31, Sony T100, Lomo LCA, Diana camera, Holga, Fujifilm Natura f1.9, Lomo Supersampler, Toy stereo pinhole camera
How long has photography been a passion for you? When, where and how did it start?
About 4 years. As for the second part of this question... refer to the next question.

Infrared in Ubin Island
What are your favorite places/subjects to photograph? Why?
I hate this question too. LOL! There are just too many to list them here. Okay, as far as places, I’d choose Japan. It’s a place I love very much, and even after three trips there, I’m planning another in the near future. Why? I love the people there. They are mostly camera friendly, and I simply love their culture. Also, it hosts a variety of beautiful landscapes and cityscapes which I’ll never grow tired of. I’ve done an entire series of photos during one of my trip there using a Lensbaby and I was extremely happy with it. Next trip... with only a fisheye!

Infrared in my Neighbourhood
Who are your biggest photographic influences? Why? What about their work influences your work?
Too many to mention, but in a nutshell, all the photographers whose works were featured in the book ‘Photography as contemporary art’. That book changed the way I want my photos to be.
If you were given a simple camera with a 24-exposure roll of film and told they were the last 24 photographs you could take, what would you photograph and why?
Hmm... tough one. Let’s see... I’ll probably use up the entire roll photographing my baby boy!

What Goes On in Your Kitchen at Night
What is the stupidest and/or most dangerous thing you have done to get a picture?
During my trip to Hokkaido, Japan... our tour bus passed this beautiful scene and later stopped at a restaurant nearby. While everyone were enjoying a great buffet lunch, I decided to walk about 20 to 30 minutes to reach this scene for some shots. From the restaurant we could also photograph this flower field but I was determined to take the shot from the location I saw while we were still on the bus. So I ended up munching some snacks for lunch as the bus was about to drive off when I returned to the meeting point (see photo below).

Summer Dreams
Have you won any awards or prizes from your photography?
No major wins or awards, just some from magazines and photography websites. My happiest moment was when 2 of my photos were selected for the 'To Singapore With Love' project. A 300-page hardcover book to commemorate the Lion's City's 40th year of independence in the year 2005

The Brave Ant
Have you sold any photographs?
I do sell some of my photos in stock photography sites and I’ve sold some prints to a buyer in the US who wanted some photos for his new apartment.

Roadside Hair Wash
If you had to give one piece of advice to those wanting to pursue photography, what would you tell them?
Worry less about your equipment. Worry less about not having the latest equipments. Work based on what you have (or can afford), think more, do not be afraid to be different.
