Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is John Mueller. I am a young 53, err 54 Jan 22nd. I live on the West Side of Cincinnati. I am a service manager in the construction industry. I keep my camera with me at all times so I can stop at my favorite parks between job sites.

What is your background/training in photography?
I am self-taught. I have researched the Internet, read books and photography forums. I practice daily.

How long has photography been a passion for you? When, where and how did it start?
I have been into photography for about 6 years now. It started with a point and shoot and grew from there. Now I have no retirement money left.

What equipment is in your camera bag? What piece of equipment will be added to the collection next?
Canon G9, Canon 40D, and Canon ID Mark 3. Planning on adding a 500mm.

What are your favorite places/subjects to photograph? Why?
One of my favorite places is West Virginia. There are so many places to go capture the beauty of the state. I enjoy photographing birds as well. They are such a challenge.

Who are your biggest photographic influences? Why? What about their work influences your work?
Andy Williams and Harry Behret. Andy’s street photography and Harry’s wildlife photography influences me.

How long have you been Smug with your photographs? What features do you most enjoy with your Smugmug account?
I have been on Smugmug for 4 years now. Easy upload, reliability and how it interacts with Google.

If you had do sum up in 50 words or less the impact Smugmug has made on your photography/photography business, those 50 words would be...
Smugmug has given the ability to share my work with club members and viewers around the world. Due to Smugmug and Google a company from Australia has recently contacted me for use of one of my photographs.

If you had to give one piece of advice to those wanting to pursue photography, what would you tell them?
Read, ask questions. Join a photography club. Practice, practice, practice.
And take your time!
