Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is David Beatson age 62 and I am lucky enough to live in Scotland where I work as a Taxi driver and spend my spare time with my camera.

What is your background/training in photography?
I have no formal training in photography and have just learned through a desire to become a better photographer and hope that I will never stop learning.

How long has photography been a passion for you? When, where and how did it start?
I have always had an interest in photography for as long as I can remember. And now I try my very best to capture some of the beauty and also the nature of Scotland.

What equipment is in your camera bag? What piece of equipment will be added to the collection next?
I own a Nikon D2X with a Nikon 300mm f2.8 vr and the 12-24 2.8 and my next addition will be the new D3.

What are your favorite places/subjects to photograph? Why?
I just love shooting landscapes on the West coast of Scotland as it has a magic quality to the light and is totally un spoilt by man.

Who are your biggest photographic influences? Why? What about their work influences your work?
Ansel Adams. Need I say more?

How long have you been Smug with your photographs? What features do you most enjoy with your SmugMug account?
I have been with SmugMug for almost two years now and like all their features and the way that they look after my interests.

SmugMug has enabled me to show my pictures world wide and get some, always welcome feedback on my work.

If you had to give one piece of advice to those wanting to pursue photography, what would you tell them?
Go out end enjoy.
