Here are some thoughts from ciaran on the photograph:
This picture was taken at sunset, in a small village outside of Gorgan, a town in Northern Iran close to the Turkmenistan border. Most of the people from the village came to greet us and have their photos taken, but this one girl stood back observing. Her stance and the colours of her clothing bathed in the golden light is what caught my eye. I didn’t notice the barbed wire at her feet until I printed the image - hence the title “Behind the Wire.” Captured using Nikon D2X and a Nikon 70-200mm f2.8. Shutter speed was 1/250 @ f2.8 and ISO100.
You can congratulate Ciaran here at the 6th Runner-Up Award Thread as well as by posting a comment on the winning photograph here in the Corner Galleries.
Congrats, Ciaran!!!
