Here are some thoughts from sweetrosie_99 on the photograph:
Well to start with Ansel Adams work so inspires me.. This shot I just happened across. We had a terrible ice storm in January of 2007. We had lost electricty and that was hard enough besides it being so cold. We were getting stir crazy so we all decided to go out and take a ride. Our town looked like a war zone, all the trees broken from the ice, all the electric poles eithier covered in ice or just snapped in half. There were a few days when they didn’t want anyone out unless it was an emergency. It was really that bad. So we left the house and of course I knew I was taking my camera with us. I always do. I was taking photos of the destruction all around.. Terrible as it was there were some beautiful shots waiting to be had. This particular shot was on our way home and there it was this tree out in a snow covered field all by itself.. The justice isn’t really given, all the trees had icicles blown sideways from the winds..It was a eerie silence everywhere. I just knew I had to cross over the fence to get most of the horizon out of the shot.. This was the end result. I used my Kodak easyshare Z 740.. Sorry I can’t find what my settings were on now. I can almost think I set it to auotmatic because thats what I usually do for landscape shots. Definately did not need the flash.

You can congratulate Rosie here at the 7th Runner-Up Award Thread as well as by posting a comment on the winning photograph here in the Corner Galleries.
