Here are some thoughts from MelB on the photograph:
Morning Glory was shot on a cool Autumn morning, at Lake Wanaka, Mainland New Zealand. Being a lake that’s part of a hydro electric scheme means that the water level rises and falls quite alarmingly. Finding this tree with enough water around it for reflections, and yet with a little island of rock to stand on is difficult things to do, so I was lucky to get this shot. I joined a photographic tour called Godzone 2007, run by Geoff White, a well known panorama photographer here in Australia. We were taken to some amazing locations, and this was one. I used a Canon 5D with 16-35mm lens, tripod, cable release, cokin ND graduated filter and polariser. I bracketed my shots to make sure I got one that was close to what I was after. This was the slightly under exposed frame, which helped keep the colour in the sky and yet still have detail in the rocks and foreground.

You can congratulate Mel here at the 8th Runner-Up Award Thread as well as by posting a comment on the winning photograph here in the Corner Galleries.

Congrats, Mel!!!
