The announcement may be a couple of days late, but that doesn’t make the win any less fantastic: Gil Paz, aka zaplig from Giv’atáyim, Israel won Contest Corner Challenge #49: Play Ball with his photograph “Broken Window.”

Now, if you remember back, there was a bit of controversy over CCC#49, as it was initially announced as a “baseball” challenge. After some discussion, I decided to open up “Play Ball” to include cricket, so that those living in non-baseball countries could easily take part. While they do play a bit of baseball in Israel, it’s certainly not popular like cricket is, so you’d assume one from Israel would submit a cricket photograph, right? Not Gil.
