At the beginning of the month we announced Contest Corner Challenge #54: Dark Outlines. By the end of this contest, we’ll be back on track with the regular, 3-week Contest Corner Challenges as well. The task for this contest, while it may seem simple, should get some of your to play around with some different settings on your cameras. Your task? To photography anything you want, as long as it is silhouetted.

A silhouette is a view of some object or scene consisting of the outline and a featureless interior, with the silhouette usually being black. You have until 11:59pm GMT, Monday, August 11th, 2008 to get your entries in (yes, that leaves you less than a week now). The contest is sponsored by our awesome friends at SmugMug.com, who are offering the following prizes: If the winner is a Premiere Member, they will receive a SmugMug Pro Account (1 year free subscription) or a $50 Gift Certificate towards prints at SmugMug.com. If the winner is not a Premiere Member, they will receive a SmugMug Power Account (1 year free subscription).

Make sure you read the Contest Corner Challenge Guidelines before submitting a photograph!!! I’ve been receiving more and more photographs that don’t meet the criteria for the contests (ie. the photo has to be taken during the contest, sizing restrictions, etc) which wastes everyone’s time. So please, take a minute to read them over… But most importantly, remember to have fun!!! While the prizes are great, these contests are meant to help you learn and grow as a photographer… and to have fun while doing it!
