Corner Moderators Wanted
As much as I would love it to be so, the Corner doesn’t run itself (take this week for instance - I’m on vacation… who do you think is taking care of everything while I’m away?). In addition to myself, there are dozens of volunteers that help make this place tick. Some are just really dedicated members of the community, while others are officially known as moderators (or “mods” for short). Every year or so, we try to mix it up a bit by adding a few new people to the mod squad.
Do you have a passion for photography? Do you love looking through the forums, commenting on photographs and interacting with the community? Maybe moderatorship is for you! Here are the requirements for being a mod:
- You have been a member of the Corner for at least 6 months, and have around 1,000 posts or more
- You enjoying looking at, commenting on, posting and critiquing photographs in a variety of the Corner forums
- You enjoy hunting for and dealing with spammers as well as policing the forums by defusing arguments and providing constructive help to those that ask for it
- You enjoy brainstorming and implementing new ideas to help grow the Corner
- You’re obsessed with making sure every un-replied thread has at least one response, and you can’t go to sleep at night knowing there are unread messages in the forum
- You enjoy logging in and checking new posts on the forum at all hours of the day and night
Remuneration:
- Generous pay structure ($0/hour) with (no) benefits
- Cool “blue camera” icons above your username
- Rank of “Moderator” below your cool “blue camera” icons
- The occasional surprise (PhotographyCorner pens? Lenses? Camera bags? Software? More?)
- Access to the ENTIRE FORUM (including the secret mod lair!!)
- My respect and admiration (unless you’re a complete tool)

We’ve got a couple of big projects coming down the pipe, including, but not limited to, a massive forum restructuring (which involved a lot of “post moving” - ask a current mod for details), as well as several “writing” assignments and mini-projects. The ideal mod should log into the Corner almost daily, and will be assigned several sub forums to “maintain” (looking for and removing spam, moving posts to the appropriate forum, etc). Is this something you’re interested in doing? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
And how can you apply to be a mod? Simple. Just send me an email twalker@photographycorner.com and tell me why you want to be a mod. In a couple of weeks, I’ll make my choices based on the applications, and we’ll be off to the races. If you want to know more about being a mod before signing your life away… er… becoming one yourself…, just ask one of the current mods - they’d be more than glad to give you a run down. If you have any questions, just ask in the comments!
