One of the main changes in the Corner Forums that we’re making is the addition of the Photo Sharing Corner - a place where you can just share photographs without having to worry about feedback or critique, or having to provide EXIF data or anything like that. Want to show off a photo of your cat making “that face” or a couple photos you took at the BBQ last night? The Photo Sharing Corner is the place for those type of photos.

The Photo Sharing Corner is broken into 3 section - People, Places and Things. While it may seem more or less obvious what fits into which category, here’s how we see it:

• People - photos of people obviously go in here, from weddings, to portraits, to photos of your kids. The rule of thumb is “if the main subject of the photo is a person or people, it goes in the People forum.”
• Places - this is the forum for your landscapes and cityscapes. The rule of thumb for this forum is “if the subject of your photo is the location of the photograph, it belongs in the Places forum.”
• Things - photos of anything - photos of anything from inanimate objects, to plants and animals, to whatever else. The rule of thumb for this forum is “if the subject of your photo isn’t a People or a Places, it belongs in the Things forum.”

While there are going to be some rules for the new Critiques & Feedback Corner (more on this new section coming soon), the Photo Sharing Corner will focus on sharing and community. Common sense, of course, should come into play. Try to keep the number of photos per post at 3 or under (if you want to post a great, big series of photographs, post a couple in the thread, then upload the rest to your gallery). Try not to start 20 threads in the same forum in one night - it pushes everyone else’s post off the first page. Simple stuff like that.

It’s still going to take the mods and me a while to move all the posts to the proper forum, so the forums in the Critiques & Feedback Corner will still be closed for another 12-24 hours. But, as of right now, all three forums in the Photo Sharing Corner are open for posting… so go ahead and check them out and start sharing and commenting on some photos!
