Tell us a little bit more about AKVIS.

AKVIS specializes in the development of image processing software and scientific research. The company was founded in 2004 by IT professionals having considerable experience in programming and software development. Since then the company has released a number of successful programs.

Now we offer 13 image editing software.

Why did AKVIS decide to sponsor the PhotographyCorner 2009 Photograph of the Year contest?

We are enthusiastic about graphics and image processing issues and often sponsor design and photography contests.

Tell us a little more about the prizes AKVIS is offering for the contest.

We're offering the AKVIS Enhancer Deluxe license and AKVIS Alchemy Business pack (all 13 software, Business licenses).

AKVIS Enhancer is an image enhancement program that improves image detail, fixes dark, hazy, or out of focus photos, and creates HDR images. AKVIS Enhancer works in four modes: Enhancer (detail enhancement), Focus (image re-focusing), Smart Correction (correction in certain colors), and HDR mode (creation of high dynamic range images). The Deluxe license includes all features of both editions (plugin and standalone program), while the AKVIS Alchemy pack is a software bundle. It consists of all AKVIS software, in their Business versions.

The full list of all included software is available at

Business license lets users derive a profit from their usage of the software, and includes all features of all available editions for each software. In contrast to the Home license, the Business one is always more expensive, but this package allows to get all AKVIS software for business with a large discount. AKVIS Alchemy Business pack is good addition to any photographer's kit.

How will the software that AKVIS is offering help people become better photographers?

All AKVIS software were made to help photographers. The programs allows users to correct digital photos, retouch, restore old scans and modern digital pictures, add colors to black and white photos, remove noise and artifacts, enlarge images without loss in quality, etc. The tools are very useful to improve photos. Also, some of the programs concern with artistic use. They help to convert digital photos into pencil sketches or watercolor drawings, or oil paintings, posterize them, add light effects to images, or add beautiful frames to photos, recolor and resurface images, make collages, etc. Both professional photographers and amateurs find AKVIS software very helpful.
