Corner Contest Galleries and Forum Profiles Updated

Over the past couple of months, we’ve moved all of the photographs from all of our past contests from the Corner Photo Galleries to the new Corner Contest Galleries (hosted by our friends at SmugMug.com). Thanks to some help from one of our mods, Erik Bernskiold, the design of the Corner Contest Galleries is now complete (check it out!).

The New Corner Contest Galleries

I was hoping to get this done in time for Christmas when Santa stopped by the Corner, but it ended up being a lot more work than I had expected. I forced myself to get it done before voting started for the 2008 Photograph of the Year contest (one of the reasons it’s taken me an extra day or two to get voting started). What am I talking about, you ask? Why, the new Corner Contest Galleries of course! Now, these galleries aren’t meant to replace our current photo galleries, but they will serve as the new galleries for all of our contests.

2007 Photograph of the Year Photo Galleries - Final Update

I’m pretty sure that this will be the last post about the 2007 Photograph of the Year contest (no promises, though - that being said, I don’t have any more planned or anything). I know the contest ended and the winners were announced 3 weeks ago, but I’ve finally updated all the photo galleries to include all the usernames of every photograph submitted and approved for the contest. Now you have a chance, for the first time, to associate usernames with photographs (with the exception being the top 10 winners, who have already been revealed).

Corner Galleries Hits 10,000 Photos!

I was just putting up the CCC#35: Fill the Frame photos into the Corner Photo Galleries (see the CCC#35: Fill the Frame Galleries here) and noticed that we hit a milestone in the past couple of days!

Photograph of the Month Galleries are All Uploaded

As I mentioned a couple of days ago, I’m just catching up on the Corner Photo Galleries by adding all the Contest Corner Challenge entries and the Photograph of the Month nominations to the galleries. I got the Contest Corner Challenge Galleries up a couple of days ago, and this morning, I finished adding the Photograph of the Month Galleries.

Contest Corner Challenge Galleries are All Uploaded

While the Corner Photo Galleries have been “live” for several months, I’ve just now completed uploading ALL the past Contest Corner Challenge photographs into their own galleries (almost 500 photos through CCC#29). Below are the links to the galleries. Make sure you drop by the galleries to comment on the photos (up until recently, we haven’t really had a place to comment on the non-winning entries, so take advantage of it now). If you own some of the photos in there, maybe make a quick comment on your photos, identifying you as the author (I didn’t keep this data from old contests, but newer CCC Galleries will have username information already included), and discuss your entry.

Online Portfolio's from Proimageguide

One of the Premiere Sponsors for our 2006 Photograph of the Year Contest is Proimageguide, and I had a chance to ask them a couple of questions about their business and why having an online presence, as a photographer, is an important part of an amateur or professional photographers’ business plan. Here are some of the Q & A’s from our chat:

Another Corner Photo Gallery Bug Fixed

Just when you thought everything was working perfectly, we go and fix another bug. Now most people wouldn’t have noticed this one, as it only would have caused problems with Premiere Member accounts… Basically, there was a setting on the server that was not allowing uploads of files larger than 2MB (and Premiere Members have an upload limit of 3MB for Level I and 5MB for Level II). We’ve got that fixed, so Premiere Members, go ahead and upload your behemoth files… we can take them now! We’re one step closer to officially bringing the Corner Photo Galleries out of Beta!

2006 PotY Contest Update - 65% of Entries Sent Back

As I’ve been going through all the entries for the contest, I’ve had to reject quite a few of them. While I’ve received almost 400 entries, over 65% of them have been rejected and sent back. As of the time I’m posting this, there are 2 days - 48 hours - to get your submissions in. If you’ve received an email from me today asking you to resubmit your photograph, please take a couple of minutes to re-read the Rules and the Submission Guidelines. I promise it will only take you a couple of minutes to read. Most of the entries are being rejected because of the following reasons:

Corner Photo Galleries - Some Minor Bug Fixes

As we continue to troubleshot the Corner Photo Galleries to get them just the way we want them, it was discovered that some of the file size and upload limits were not set correctly. This has now been resolved.
