One of the sponsors for the 2006 Photograph of the Year Contest was a photography software company out of Perth, Australia: Time Exposure. Peter, co-founder of Time Exposure has been on the road as of late, including at Imaging USA down in San Antonio, but has since returned home to Perth, and had a chance to answer a couple of questions for us about Time Exposure and their software ProSelect.

After a month-long entry period, followed by the first round of voting, which featured 15 voting threads of 9 photos each, followed by the final voting round, Rocky was crowned the winner of the 2006 Photograph of the Year Contest!!

After a month of waiting and anticipation, voting has finally begun for the PhotographyCorner.com 2006 Photograph of the Year Contest! We have 135 amazing entries to choose from, and they are divided up into 15 Groups for Round 1 of voting.

Unless this is your very first visit to the Corner, you’re probably well aware about the PhotographyCorner.com 2006 Photograph of the Year Contest. We announced it back on December 19th, 2006 and have been accepting entries since then. While over 65% of the entries have been rejected, we now have over 130 accepted submissions that we will vote on, in 2 rounds, starting tomorrow (January 19th).

2006 PotY Contest Update - No More Backlog

Thanks to everyone for their patience over the past couple of weeks in waiting for a response for the photographs you’ve submitted to the PhotographyCorner.com 2006 Photograph of the Year Contest. As of right now, I have gone through the entire backlog of entries. If you sent in an entry before today, you should have received 2 responses from me by now.

Photograph of the Year Update - EXIF Data No Longer Required

I’ve already had to reject more than 250 entries to the PhotographyCorner.com 2006 Photograph of the Year contest due to a variety of “missing or invalid” information reasons, as well as sizing issues (it would be really hard to vote on a 400×300 image up against a 1024×768 or larger image…). After downloading the entries that “passed” the initial run-through, I’ve found that an additional 25%+ don’t have EXIF data attached, as was posted in the Rules. I don’t want to trim the field down too far… as it is, there are less than 150 “valid” entries to the contest (*hint, hint to those that are reluctant to enter… with so few entries, you’ve got a great chance at winning or at least placing in the top 10!*).

2006 PotY Contest Update - 65% of Entries Sent Back

As I’ve been going through all the entries for the contest, I’ve had to reject quite a few of them. While I’ve received almost 400 entries, over 65% of them have been rejected and sent back. As of the time I’m posting this, there are 2 days - 48 hours - to get your submissions in. If you’ve received an email from me today asking you to resubmit your photograph, please take a couple of minutes to re-read the Rules and the Submission Guidelines. I promise it will only take you a couple of minutes to read. Most of the entries are being rejected because of the following reasons:
