July Corner Updates

I just sent this post out as an email, but for those of you that have chosen not to receive emails from the Corner, or just subscribe to the blog, but aren’t registered for the Corner forums (what’s up with that??!), here’s the email that went out - wouldn’t want to leave you in the dark, now, would I? Read more »

June 2008 Newsletter is Up, Up and Away

I realize the June 2008 Corner Newsletter is later than normal this month, but it’s always worth waiting for, right? The server finished sending out the newsletters about an hour ago, so if you haven’t received it yet, you’re not going to. Make sure to check the email settings in your UserCP that you allow emails from the administrator - that’s where the newsletters come from! If you didn’t receive it, but want to read it (of course you do!), you can read it online here. The June 2008 Corner Newsletter is sponsored by Kubota Image Tools - providers of Photoshop® Actions, Image Enhancing Tools & Training. Read more »

June 2008 Bling

PhotographyCorner Commitment AwardIt’s the middle of the month, and I’m preparing to send out the Corner Newsletter which means it’s time to hand out awards around the Corner. We have 5 awards to had out this month, including a Platinum Commitment Award to ohenry (only the fifth Platinum Award handed out to date). Now, these commitment awards are awarded to those who reach certain post milestones (10,000 posts for a platinum award, 5,000 posts for a gold award, 2,000 posts for a silver award, and 1,000 posts for a bronze award), but this one for Carl (aka ohenry) is much more than the 10,000+ posts he’s added to the Corner over the past 4+ years (yes, Carl has been around the Corner for over 4 years), but it’s a HUGE thank-you on my part for all the stuff Carl does around the Corner. Not only are all of his posts valuable to anyone that reads them (in fact, he wrote the article on how to critique a photograph), but Carl also pretty much runs the Premiere Corner and the Premiere Projects (and all he gets is, well, nothing). While I run and manage the Corner more or less by myself, without the help of a select few people like Carl, PhotographyCorner would not be the site that it is. Thanks to everyone who continues to contribute to the Corner, and congratulations to those who are receiving the awards below. Read more »

2008 Server Fundraiser Update #3

Less than a month ago we announced the 2008 Server Fundraiser project. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, we’ve been having around the Corner lately, and that we’ll soon need to move ourselves to a bigger and better server. In comes the 2008 Server Fundraiser. In addition to the 2008 Server Fundraiser page, I’ve added a banner at the top of the main forum page so that everyone can keep track of how we’re doing. So far, we’ve raised over 60% of our goal of $2,500 with over $1,500 in donations. Less than $1,000 to go! So what are you waiting for? Get your donations in!!! You’ll even get some cool stuff in return for donating, and one person will receive a Lowepro Stealth Reporter D550 AW camera bag! I have one of these bags myself, and it rocks.

We’ve raised over $1,500 in less than a month - you think we can get that last $1,000 before the end of April? Read more »
