At the end of January, about 3 weeks ago, we announced the winners of the 2009 Photograph of the Year contest after weeks of voting and narrowing down the entries. If you missed all the craziness of the contest, you can check out the winners here. The $10,000 in prizes are on their way to being delivered to the winners and it’s time to do a quick look-back at the contest - specifically at all the photos that were initially entered into the contest.

After 2 months of 2009 Photograph of the Year contest craziness, last week it finally came to an exciting close. Hundreds of entries, thousands of votes, and now we have 9 Runner-Ups and 1 Winner: fa1sal with his photograph “Autumn Resurrection” (pictured right). For winning the 2009 Photograph of the Year contest, Faisal picks up $3,250 of the $10,000 in prizes that will be dispersed to the winners. Almost all of the prizes were supplied by 9 fantastic sponsors: PhotoBook Press, Cotton Carrier, Mpix, Imagevuex, AKVIS, ThinkTankPhoto, Amazon.com, SmugMug and Daymen. A month an a half ago we announced the 2009 Photograph of the Year contest with $10,000 in prizes. We received hundreds of entries, and a little over a week ago, we started voting on them. The photographs were split up into 7 “groups,” and, after a week of voting, the top 3 photographs from each group have moved on to the final voting round (you can read through the breakdown from each group here). Now, 21 photographs will battle it out for your votes to determine which 10 photographs will come away with part of the $10,000’s in prizes, and which photograph will bring home the $3,250 grand prize and be declared the PhotographyCorner.com 2009 Photograph of the Year.

Round 1 Winners of the 2009 Photograph of the Year Contest

After well over 2,000 votes in round 1 of the 2009 Photograph of the Year contest, it’s time to find out which photographs will move on to the final voting round. The entries were initially split up into 7 “groups” with 21 photographs in each group. The top three photographs from each group will move on to the final round. With voting complete, we’ve tallied up the votes and announced which photographs will battle it out for the $10,000 in prizes, including a $3,250 grand prize.
