The announcement may be a couple of days late, but that doesn’t make the win any less fantastic: Gil Paz, aka zaplig from Giv’atáyim, Israel won Contest Corner Challenge #49: Play Ball with his photograph “Broken Window.”

The entry period for Contest Corner Challenge #49: Play Ball has come and gone, and we’re now in the voting stage of the CCC. With the minor controversy over the subject of the contest, I was surprised how few entries we received (ok, it wasn’t horrible, but it’s the lowest number of entries we’ve had in a while).

Contest Corner Challenge #49 Wants You To "Play Ball"

Spring is here (at least in this part of the world), and with spring comes America’s favourite past-time: baseball. I know not everyone around the Corner is from the US (myself included), and baseball may not be a big sport where you’re from, but I’m pretty sure most people understand the concept (if not, you can read the Wikipedia article on Baseball). For this contest, capture a photograph that has something to do with baseball - it can be an action shot, an artsy photograph of a bat, your kid playing t-ball, whatever - as long as it’s baseball-related, you have yourself an entry.

If the winner is not a Premiere Member, they will receive a Lifetime, Level II Premiere Membership. If the winner is a Premiere Member, they will receive a Nodal Ninja 3 panoramic tripod head (over a $200 value) and 5 of the new PhotographyCorner.com Pens. Entries are due by 11:59pm GMT, Monday, April 28th, 2008.
