Cast Your Vote - Contest Corner Challenge #64: Like a Child

Just as the voting for the July 2009 Photograph of the Month contest comes to a close, so starts the voting for the Contest Corner Challenge #64: Like a Child. CCC#64: Like a Child challenged photographers to simply take a photograph of a child, and 25 photographers accepted that challenge. You can view their photographs in the Photo Gallery, then decide which one is both the best technically and best depicts the theme of the contest by casting your vote in the voting threadRead more »

Take a Photograph of a Child for Contest Corner Challenge #64

If you have kids, you know that for 20 years or so, the majority of your photographs are, not surprisingly, of your kids. There’s something special about the pure joy and innocence that can be captured in the photograph of a child, and now you have the chance for that photograph to win you some cash. Contest Corner Challenge #64: Like a Child challenges you to simply take a photograph of a child or of children.

The contest is sponsored by Competico, the world’s leading online photo contest website, and are offering the following as prizes: If the winner is a Premiere Member, they will receive a $50 credit in their Competico account and 5 PhotographyCorner pens. If the winner is not a Premiere Member, they will receive a $25 credit in their Competico account and 2 PhotographyCorner pens. Entries must be taken between the contest announcement date (June 12th, 2009) and June 29th, 2009. Check out the contest announcement thread for all the details. Read more »

The Most Intense Photograph from CCC#63 Is "Ball Intensity"

After a week of voting, Contest Corner Challenge #63: Intensity has come to a close. With 25 entries, the voting was pretty spread out, but Ball Intensity by PicturePony came out on top (by a mere 1 vote!) with one-sixth of the votes (almost 17%!).

For winning Contest Corner Challenge #63: Intensity, Sharon picks herself up an Urban Disguise 20 camera bag courtesy of our sponsor, Think Tank Photo (Use code WS-171 to receive a free bag with every order over $50 - and part of every order goes to support the Corner as well!!). You can browse through all 25 entries, as well as find who took each entry in the CCC#63: Intensity Photo Gallery. The voting results are now publicly available in the voting thread, and you can congratulate Sharon on her win by commenting in the award thread.

Congratulations on your first CCC win, Sharon! Read more »

Vote for the Most Intense Photograph in CCC#63

Since we changed up the Contest Corner Challenges for 2009, we’ve allowed an extra week or so for entries to come in for each contest. That change has resulted in more entries, but more importantly, higher-quality entries. Just take a look at the photographs entered for Contest Corner Challenge #63: Intensity. They are fantastic, which makes your job that much more difficult. Read more »

Morning Start Wins Contest Corner Challenge #62

Our 62nd Contest Corner Challenge was unique in the sense that the challenge had photographs submit not one, but two photographs for the contest. The first photograph submitted was to be a “before” photograph, and the second to be the “after” photograph. We had 32 photographs submitted from 16 different photographers (you can see all the photographs submitted in the Contest Corner Challenge #62: Before & After Photo Gallery), but there was one pair of photographs by JustJerk that received almost 20% of the votes (check out the final voting results here): Morning Start - before and after of the egg, of course! Read more »

Vote For the Best "Before & After" Photos in CCC#62

For Contest Corner Challenge #62: Before & After, instead of taking and submitting one photograph, the community was challenged to take and submit two photographs (inspired by the fact we have two sponsors - AutoFX Software and Think Tank Photo - note: if you make purchases from either of the sponsors by using the links from the Corner, a portion of your purchase goes to support the Corner!). Sixteen photographers decided to take up the challenge, and we have 32 photographs to check out in the CCC#62: Before & After Photo Gallery (2 from each photograph… a “before” photograph and an “after” photograph). Read more »

Two Photographs Are Needed For CCC#62: Before & After

Usually, Contest Corner Challenges are all about taking a photo with a specific theme. Contest Corner Challenge #62: Before & After, however, is a little different. There’s no theme - no specific subject that you have to photograph. Instead, you have to take two photographs of something - anything. One before blank and one after blank. The blank can be anything you choose. So instead of taking and submitting one photograph, you have to take and submit two photographsRead more »

Contest Corner Challenge Changes & Updates

It’s been a couple of months since our last Contest Corner Challenge. You’ve been patiently waiting, and they’re finally ready to come back. Things will be a little different with the Contest Corner Challenges this year, however. A while back, we made the decision to do a new CCC every three weeks. While it was great to have so many contests throughout the year, because they were so frequent, participation in each contest was a little lower. In addition, partly due to the current economy woes, it became harder to fill the sponsorship spots for so many contests. That’s why, this year, there will be fewer Contest Corner Challenges. In addition, we’ll be extending the voting span from 5 days to 7 days, to match that of the Photograph of the Month contests. Read more »

Contest Corner Challenges Canceled

Not permanently… but at least for a couple of weeks; probably until the 2008 Photograph of the Year is complete. There are a couple of surprises coming, and we want to make sure they’re all in place before we get the Contest Corner Challenges rolling again. If you really miss the challenges, why not give the Premiere Projects a try? Check out www.photographycorner.com/premiere-membership for more information on Premiere Membership and the Premiere Projects. And if you haven’t already, make sure you enter the 2008 Photograph of the Year Contest. There are $11,500 in prizes available to be won! Read more »

Malaria Bites Fund Raiser Update

A couple of weeks ago, along with the announcement of Contest Corner Challenge #60: That Bites, we started a site-wide fund raiser called “Malaria Bites.” Our goal? To raise money to purchase mosquito nets for children in Liberia to help prevent the spread of malaria by partnering with the Canadian Red Cross. You can read all about the Malaria Bites campaign here in our initial blog postRead more »

Contest Corner Challenge #60 Bites

In addition to having an excuse to go out and practice photography, submit a photograph, and maybe even win a prize; but you also have the opportunity to save a lifeRead more »

CCC#59: Digital Darkroom #3 Winner Announced

It’s not very often that the winner announcements of the Photograph of the Month contest and a Contest Corner Challenge happen on the same day (ok, they were both supposed to be announced yesterday, but I spread it out a bit - it’s a lot of work!), but it’s even less common to have the same person win two Contest Corner Challenge contests in a row. In fact, the last time it happened was when Karen won both CCC#43 and CCC#44 about a year ago. This time, it’s tamara who won CCC#58, and has now won CCC#59Read more »
