Kodak Picture of the Day Contest Recap

If you remember way back to late October, 2007, we held a contest in partnership with Kodak. The winners (one from North America and one from “the rest of the world,”) were to have one of their photographs displayed on the Kodak Electronic Display in Times Square for one day. Well, back in February, it finally happened. Karen and sayambhu had their one day of fame in Times Square, and Karen took a trip out to New York to experience first hand! In addition, Karen received a Kodak EasyShare 5300 All-in-One Printer. Below, we have some photos she took on the trip, some of her thoughts on the trip and the contest, as well as a mini-review to go along with the review I did earlier.

Follow the Path to Contest Corner Challenge #48

It seems like it was just yesterday that I announced CCC #47, but here we are, 3 weeks later, and we’re onto our next Contest Corner Challenge (just 2 away from the half-century mark!). CCC#48: The Path is all about leading lines. Leading lines are lines within an image that leads the eye to another point in the image, or occasionally, out of the image. For this challenge, you need to use a path (road, walkway, bridge, etc) as a leading line. The path should comprise most of the photograph. You can read all the details about the contest here.

With her third CCC win (and SECOND in a row!!), Karen is becoming a dominate force here around the Corner (don’t forget she also won the PhotographyCorner/Kodak Contest a couple of months ago too).

2007 Photograph of the Year Update

Well, the PhotographyCorner.com 2007 Photograph of the Year Contest entry period has come to a close. We received over 400 entries, with around 160 qualifying entries (over half were rejected!! - remember to read the rules before entering a contest!!!). Voting will start during the day on January 18th, 2008 (it’ll take me a couple of days to go through the entries!).

Can You Smell Contest Corner Challenge #44?

Just when you thought the Contest Corner Challenges couldn’t get any more difficult, CCC#44: Photolfaction comes along. No, there isn’t a spelling mistake in the title of this Contest Corner Challenge - it’s a word I made up. Olfaction is basically is your sense of smell. For this challenge, you need to photograph something that looks so good (or bad!) that you can smell it. Think perfume, fresh coffee grounds, cinnamon, rotten egg, etc.

Karen Wins CCC#43: Holiday Alphabetography

While we didn’t receive a bunch of entries for this contest (tough contest? time of year?), the entries we did receive were amazing, but Karen’s entry, “JOY” was the cream of the crop, gathering over 43% of the votes.

Now that the festivities are over, it’s back to work. And by work, I mean looking through the creative entries for Contest Corner Challenge #43: Holiday Alphabetography! Contest Corner Challenge #43 Announced

You ever notice that some objects kind of look like letters? Like the brim of a mug looks like an “O” or the top of that roof makes the letter “A”, or even a stick in the shape of the letter “Y.” Contest Corner Challenge #43: Holiday Alphabetography challenges you to photograph these objects that look like letters, and put them together to create a holiday word (like peace, joy, christmas, jesus, lights, wreath, hanukkah, festivus, etc).
