Green Giantess is the Digital Darkroom #4 Winning Photograph

Green Giantess by divmiller - Contest Corner Challenge #76: Digital Darkroom #4While most of our Contest Corner Challenge contests are ‘photography-theme’ based (ie - take a photograph of _______), every once and a while we like to do a contest for those that love the digital manipulation side of the art of photography. About once a year we try to do a “Digital Darkroom” Contest Corner Challenge where we supply a dozen or so photographs, and then ask the community to take at least 3 of those photograph (or all of them), and meld them together to create a new “digital creation.” The entry period came to a close last week, and yesterday we finished voting (see the final voting results here). The photo creation at the top of the pile was “Green Giantess” by divmiller - a very creative combination of several of the supplied photographs.

You can browse through the entries and original photographs to see who put together each “digital darkroom creation” here in the CCC#76: Digital Darkroom #4 Photo Gallery, then head on over to the award thread to congratulate Diana on her first Contest Corner Challenge victory!

The contest was sponsored by Amazon.com - find and discover anything you might want to buy online at the lowest possible prices. Amazon.com and other sellers offer millions of unique new, refurbished and used items in categories such as beauty, health and personal care, jewelry and gourmet food, sports and outdoors, apparel and accessories, books, music, DVDs, electronics (cameras & photography equipment!), office, toys and baby, and home and garden. In addition, a portion of the cost of every product purchased through this link goes to support PhotographyCorner.com (what are you waiting for, go buy some stuff!!)!

Since Diana was not a Premiere Member, she has received a Lifetime, Level I Premiere Membership. Way to show off those Photoshop skills, Diana! Congratulations on your win!

CCC#76: Digital Darkroom #4 Photoshop Contest Announced

We try to do at least one “Photoshop” contest per year in the themed photography contests called Contest Corner Challenges - we call them “Digital Darkroom” challenges. Unlike our regular Contest Corner Challenges, where you’re asked to take a photograph with a certain theme, the Digital Darkroom challenges have you take at least 3 of the provided photographs, and use your post-processing skills (with programs like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro) to combine them into one completely new image. It’s been over a year since our last Digital Darkroom Contest Corner Challenge, so it’s been a long time coming: Contest Corner Challenge #76: Digital Darkroom #4. You can see the photographs you’ll have to work with here in the contest thread, (also thumbnails on the right —->) or you can download all the full-size photos here (a ~16mb file).

The contest sponsor is none other than Amazon.com - find and discover anything you might want to buy online at the lowest possible prices. If the winner is a Premiere Member, they will receive a Slik Monopod 350. If the winner is not a Premiere Member, they will receive a Lifetime, Level I Premiere Membership.

You’ve got a couple of weeks to put your “photograph” together, so head on over to the contest thread and download the photos, then open up your favorite post-processing program and start being creative in the digital darkroom! Entries are due in by August 3rd, and voting will begin on the 4th.

CCC#59: Digital Darkroom #3 Winner Announced

It’s not very often that the winner announcements of the Photograph of the Month contest and a Contest Corner Challenge happen on the same day (ok, they were both supposed to be announced yesterday, but I spread it out a bit - it’s a lot of work!), but it’s even less common to have the same person win two Contest Corner Challenge contests in a row. In fact, the last time it happened was when Karen won both CCC#43 and CCC#44 about a year ago. This time, it’s tamara who won CCC#58, and has now won CCC#59.

Less Than a Day Left to Vote for CCC#59: Digital Darkroom #3

Usually you get a little more of a heads up as far as voting goes for most of our contests, but well, let’s just say it’s been a busy week. If you’re active in the forums, you’ve probably already found the voting thread and cast your vote. If not, you have until 3pm EST (that’s 8pm GMT) to check out the entries and make your vote count.

Third Digital Darkroom Contest Corner Challenge Announced

It’s been over half a year, but it’s finally time for another Digital Darkroom Contest Corner Challenge. For those of you that either haven’t been around the Corner for that long, or have no idea what the heck a “digital darkroom” contest is, check out the past two Digital Darkroom CCC’s: Digital Darkroom #1 & Digital Darkroom #2.

Tyger Wins CCC#47: Digital Darkroom #2

With over 30 entries, CCC#47: Digital Darkroom #2 made for an interesting twist on our regular Contest Corner Challenges. Instead of taking a photograph, you got to “make” a photograph from at least 2 of 10 provided photographs (you have to be logged into the forums to see them), and what a wide array of entries we received! In the end, however, Tyger, with his photograph “Forgotten Railway,” came through as the winner, with over 21% of the votes.

CCC#47: Digital Darkroom #2 Voting Has Begun

Voting has begun for Contest Corner Challenge #47: Digital Darkroom #2! The contest was a “Photoshop” free-for-all, which allowed those who entered to use at least 2 of the posted photographs (you have to be logged in to see them) to create their own compilation photograph.

Another Digital Darkroom Contest Corner Challenge

About a year ago we ran a “Photoshop” Contest Corner Challenge. It was a really popular one, and I promised we would do it again sometime. Sometime is here! Simetime is now!! Start your photo-editing programs!! Here’s your chance to show off some of your “photoshopping” abilities! There was a bit of a controversy last time we did a digital darkroom challenge, but I think in the end, everyone really enjoyed the change. You can read more about the discussion we had about it last time here. This contest (CCC#47: Digital Darkroom #2) gives us 10 photographs to choose from. You need to use at least 2 of the attached photographs to create your own “photograph” (you can see the 10 photographs here in the contest thread - note: you have to be logged into the forum to see the photos).

Voting Has Begun for CCC#31: Digital Darkroom #1

Voting has begun for Contest Corner Challenge #31: Digital Darkroom #1. As most of you know, this is a “photoshop challenge” that asked those who enter the contest to take at least 2 of the 6 photographs (images available in the contest thread) and “create” a new photograph from them.

CCC#31 Entries Due Monday, March 5th

I obviously have difficulties reading a calendar properly, as in several places I’ve mistakenly commented that CCC#31: Digital Darkroom #1 are due in by Monday, March 4th. Monday is actually the 5th. So, just to clarify, the entries are due by 11:59pm GMT, Monday, March 5th, 2007.
