The CCC#89: Leading Lines Winner Announced

Contest Corner Challenge #89: Leading Lines Winning PhotographWith his first entry (and even before his first post!), Jason (aka yanyanyan881 won his first Contest Corner Challenge with a fantastic (yet complex and creative) example of leading lines in a photograph.

The contest was sponsored by our friends at DayMen Photo Marketing (an innovative manufacturer and distributor of high quality imaging products and accessories) and Lowepro (inventors and designers of popular camera bags, photographers and lovers of the natural world who take our reputation as The Trusted Original™ to heart). Since Jason was not a Premiere Member, he will receive a Lifetime, Level I Premiere Membership.

The voting was actually pretty spread out (see the final voting results here), but Jason managed to grab the most of them with just under 20% of the votes. You can view all the entries in the CCC#89: Leading Lines Photo Gallery, then head over to the award thread to congratulate Jason (and see a full-sized version of the winning photograph).

Use Leading Lines to Enter Contest Corner Challenge #89

Leading lines are one of the most popular compositional elements that we, as photographers, can use to draw the viewer’s eye through a photograph (or to draw their eye to a focal point in the photograph that we want to highlight). The subject of your entry into Contest Corner Challenge #89: Leading Lines is completely up to you, as long as the main compositional element in the photograph is a leading line. The entry period began on Thursday, July 21st, and entries are due in by August 3rd. You can get full details on the in the main contest thread in the forums (and make sure to read the submission guidelines before entering the contest!).

The contest is being sponsored by our friends at DayMen Photo Marketing (an innovative manufacturer and distributor of high quality imaging products and accessories) and Lowepro (inventors and designers of popular camera bags, photographers and lovers of the natural world who take our reputation as The Trusted Original™ to heart). If the winner is a Premiere Member, they will receive a Lowepro Terraclime 100 camera bag. If the winner is not a Premiere Member, they will receive a Lifetime, Level I Premiere Membership.

So you’ve got a week-and-a-half to take and enter your photograph. Looking forward to following the lead lines in your photographs!

Follow the Path to Contest Corner Challenge #48

It seems like it was just yesterday that I announced CCC #47, but here we are, 3 weeks later, and we’re onto our next Contest Corner Challenge (just 2 away from the half-century mark!). CCC#48: The Path is all about leading lines. Leading lines are lines within an image that leads the eye to another point in the image, or occasionally, out of the image. For this challenge, you need to use a path (road, walkway, bridge, etc) as a leading line. The path should comprise most of the photograph. You can read all the details about the contest here.

The contest is sponsored by our friends at SmugMug.com. If the winner is not a Premiere Member, they will receive a SmugMug Power Account (1 year free subscription) - a $59.95 value! If the winner is a Premiere Member, they will receive a SmugMug Pro Account (1 year free subscription) - a $149.95 value!! In addition, the winner will also receive 5 of the new PhotographyCorner.com Pens!

Entries are due by 11:59pm GMT, Monday, April 7th, 2008. So go find your path, photograph it, and get your entries in!
