Randy Brogen wins the March 2011 PotM

March 2011 Photograph of the MonthDespite the fact that February is the shortest month of the year, there were still a lot of fantastic photographs posted up in the Corner Forums and the Corner Galleries last month. A week ago, we whittled down all the great photographs to 15, and the community went out to decide which was the best of the bunch. When the proverbial voting dust settled, RandyBrogen’s photo “Winter Sentinal” garnered almost 1/5th of the votes. Check out the March 2011 PotM Photo Gallery here, and the final voting results here.

The contest was sponsored by LaserSoft Imaging, who is renowned worldwide as a pioneer in the field of scanner and imaging software - both in the area of private and professional usage. Since Randy is a Premiere Member, he will receive a copy of the SilverFast HDR Studio Hot Folder (48bit RAW data processing for high dynamic range imaging - a $556 Value!!! - Booyah!).

Check out a full-size version of the photo, and congratulate Randy on his first Photograph of the Month win here in the award thread.

Vote for the March 2011 Photograph of the Month

February is the shortest month of the year, so it’s no surprise how quickly voting for the Photograph of the Month contest has snuck up on us this month. The March 2011 PotM Photo Gallery and voting thread went live a couple of hours ago, and now it’s your turn to do some work (it’s fun, I promise). First, head on over to the photo galleries and browse through the March 2011 PotM gallery. Once you’ve had your fill (15 photos to wade through), drop by the forums to cast your vote in the voting thread. You have until approximately 4:45pm (9:45pm GMT) EST on Monday, February 28th, 2011 to cast your vote, then the winner will be announced March 1st.

The contest is being sponsored by LaserSoft Imaging, who is renowned worldwide as a pioneer in the field of scanner and imaging software - both in the area of private and professional usage. If the winner is a Premiere Member, they will receive a copy of the SilverFast HDR Studio Hot Folder (48bit RAW data processing for high dynamic range imaging - a $556 Value!!! - Booyah!). If the winner is not a Premiere Member, they will receive a Lifetime, Level I Premiere Membership.

Pretty cool that you have the opportunity to win a $500+ prize (for the second month in a row!) just for posting up your photo for the world to see, eh? All you have to do to enter the Photograph of the Month contest is post a photo up in the forums or galleries, and then hope a Premiere Member nominates it (or become a Premiere Member and nominate it yourself!). So if you want in on this contest next month, show us your photos! But in the meantime, we need your vote - check out the entries and cast your vote today!

March 2009 Bling

PhotographyCorner 1K Commitment AwardIf all goes according to plan, I should get the March 2009 edition of the Corner Newsletter out while I’m still on vacation (forcast says there might be some rain coming in a couple of days). As always, that means it’s time to hand out Commitment Awards to those that have reached milestones with regards to their post-count in the past month. Commitment Awards are handed out to those who have shown great community dedication & commitment, and have reached a specific post-count milestone (1k, 2k, 5k and 10k). While last month we awarded 6 people with Commitment Awards, this month we have only one. There are several people right on the cusp of receiving awards, though, so I anticipate a bunch of people receiving awards next month.

The March 2009 Photograph of the Month is "Mesmerized"

March 2009 Photograph of the MonthEvery month, a new photograph wears the honor of Photograph of the Month here around the Corner. Throughout the month, Premiere Members scour through the forums and galleries and nominate the best photographs they come across. The list is narrowed down, and during the last week of each month, the community votes on the photographs. At the beginning of each month, the winner is revealed and showered with praise and gold (ok, well… they at least get some nice comments and usually a cool prize). This month our winner is one of our newer members (he joined the Corner in February!): takefive with his photograph “Mesmerized.”

With most of the commotion of the 2008 Photograph of the Year contest said and done (there’s still a bit left to do on my part - press releases, prizes, adding usernames to the galleries etc), it’s time we get back to some of our regular contests. We’ll be announcing the next Contest Corner Challenge shortly, but first, it’s time to vote for the March 2009 Photograph of the Month.
