In our bi-weekly series "Corner Member Close Up" we get to meet some of the best and most popular members of the PhotographyCorner community. This week, we meet one of my favorite in both categories: Andy Hornby (aka Oneof42). Not only is Andy a fantastic member of the site, a dedicated moderator and all around brilliant guy, but he's also a fabulous photographer - especially considering he is color blind. Oh ya. I’m in the middle of preparing to send out the Corner Newsletter and almost forgot to hand out the Commitment Awards earned in the past month! We have 4 awards to had out this month, including a Platinum Commitment Award to Oneof42 (only the sixth Platinum Award handed out to date). Commitment awards are awarded to those who reach certain post milestones (10,000 posts for a platinum award, 5,000 posts for a gold award, 2,000 posts for a silver award, and 1,000 posts for a bronze award) and have shown dedication and commitment to the Corner. Thanks to everyone who continues to contribute to the Corner, and congratulations to those who are receiving the awards below. A special thank-you to Andy who’s receiving the Platinum Commitment Award - a fantastic photographer, dedicated moderator, and all-around great guy to have in the PhotographyCorner family.

Even though voting was delayed and a few days shorter than normal, voting for the June 2010 Photograph of the Month revealed a winning photograph: Starburst by Oneof42 - a moderator in the PhotographyCorner community, and one of the most popular photographers on the site. The June 2010 PotM victory marks his SIXTH since joining the Corner over 4 years ago. Check out the photos he was up against in the June 2010 Photograph of the Month Gallery. For winning the June 2010 PotM, Andy will receive a Tamron SP AF 10-24mm Aspherical (IF) Lens (a $499 value!) courtesy of Tamron (it’s a fantastic lens - hopefully Andy will write up a review on it when he receives it for the Corner Resource Center - if you want one for yourself, pick one up today at Amazon.com). Not one. Not two. Not three. Or even four. Five. FIVE. FIVE!! That’s the number of Photograph of the Month contests Oneof42 has now won - and he’s only been a member of the Corner for less than 3.5 years. There were fourteen photographs that made it to the voting round for the July 2009 Photograph of the Month, but once the all the votes were tallied, Andy’s “Hard Day” won out with over 21% of the votes. Just like last month, Andy, the winner of the November 2007 Photograph of the Month, has decided to give his prize to one of the runner-ups (since Andy already has a great website of his own). Unless you’re a little bit out of the loop, you probably have already heard that Oneof42 has (again) won a Photograph of the Month contest, winning, the November 2007 Photograph of the Month.

We announced the October 2007 Photograph of the Month last week, but we have a bit of an update for you.

One year ago, we were awarding Andy his first Photograph of the Month award (see October 2006 PotM). Now, one year later, it’s my pleasure to award Oneof42 his THIRD Photograph of the Month award.

Again, still catching up on some posts that should have been done weeks ago. In case you haven’t noticed, Andy (aka Oneof42) won his SECOND Photograph of the Month contest with his panoramic shot called “Horsey Windpump.”
