1-Week to Vote for the July 2009 Photograph of the Month

Every month, during the last week of the month, the PhotographyCorner community gets a chance to browse through the best photographs posted to the Corner over the past month, and vote on which one they think is the best. June flew by, and it’s time to decide which photograph should be crowned the July 2009 Photograph of the Month. We have 14 photographs up for the honour (and prizes!) this month, including two by jaharris1001 and two by shutterbug2007.

You can browse through the nominated photographs in the July 2009 Photograph of the Month Gallery and then you have until the wee-morning hours of July 1st to cast your vote in the voting thread (you can also view the photos in the voting thread).

The contest is sponsored by MOO.com - a new type of online stationer where you can upload your own photography to print high quality Business Cards, MiniCards, Postcards and more (with a different photo on every card!). Make sure to check out all the products you can create at www.MOO.com.

If the winner is a Premiere Member, they will receive an a MOO ‘Pro’ Pocket Portfolio Pack (prize valued at $210, which includes: 1 × 200 pack of Business Cards, 1 × 100 pack of MiniCards, 1 × 60 pack of Postcards, 1 × 25 pack of Greeting Cards and 1 x Leather Business Card Holder). If the winner is not a Premiere Member, they will receive a MOO Pocket Portfolio Pack (prize valued at $97, which includes: 1 × 50 pack of Business Cards, 1 × 100 pack of MiniCards, 1 × 20 pack of Postcards, 1 × 10 pack of Greeting Cards and 1 x Acrylic Business Card Holder). Those prizes make me wish I had a photograph up for the July 2009 Photograph of the Month.

So what are you waiting for? Check out the photos in the gallery, and cast your vote before the end of the month!

Storms... Is the May 2009 Photograph of the Month

Throughout the month of April, Premiere Members have been looking through the Corner Forums and Corner Galleries, looking for the best photographs posted around the site. Then, all of last week, the community voted on the top 10-15 photographs from the past month (14 this month). After a week of voting (and the voting ended up being really close - check out the results here!), shutterbug2007’s photograph titled “Storms…” won out with over 13% of the votes and was crowned the May 2009 Photograph of the Month.

Time to Vote for the May 2009 Photograph of the Month

April is almost over, which means it’s time to vote for the May 2009 Photograph of the Month here around the Corner. Every month, the last week of the month is voting time, PotM style. Over the past month, the Premiere Members have been keeping an eye out for the best photographs posted in the Corner forums and in the Corner galleries. I have the (difficult!) job of narrowing the nominations down to 10-15, and now it’s your turn - it’s time to cast your vote for the best photograph posted up to the Corner over the past month. You get to decide which photograph gets to hang out on the main page of PhotographyCorner for May 2009.

Reptilia by Brad V is the April 2009 Photograph of the Month

The PhotographyCorner Photograph of the Month contests are always filled with a dozen or so fantastic photographs, but this month it was particularly tough to narrow down a winner. The voting was fairly spread out, but with almost 17% of the votes from a field of thirteen photographs, Brad V pulled out his first Photograph of the Month victory with his photograph titled Reptilia. You have to check out the other entries here in the April 2009 Photograph of the Month Gallery and then check out the final voting results posted here in the Corner forums. Congrats, Brad!

The March 2009 Photograph of the Month is "Mesmerized"

March 2009 Photograph of the MonthEvery month, a new photograph wears the honor of Photograph of the Month here around the Corner. Throughout the month, Premiere Members scour through the forums and galleries and nominate the best photographs they come across. The list is narrowed down, and during the last week of each month, the community votes on the photographs. At the beginning of each month, the winner is revealed and showered with praise and gold (ok, well… they at least get some nice comments and usually a cool prize). This month our winner is one of our newer members (he joined the Corner in February!): takefive with his photograph “Mesmerized.”

Vote for the March 2009 Photograph of the Month

With most of the commotion of the 2008 Photograph of the Year contest said and done (there’s still a bit left to do on my part - press releases, prizes, adding usernames to the galleries etc), it’s time we get back to some of our regular contests. We’ll be announcing the next Contest Corner Challenge shortly, but first, it’s time to vote for the March 2009 Photograph of the Month.

Faisal Wins 4th Photograph of the Month

With all the commotion surrounding the 2008 Photograph of the Year contest, it’s easy to forget that we run monthly contests as well. The last week of every month, we vote on the top photographs uploaded to the forums and galleries (nominated by Premiere Members), and we crown the photograph of the month at the beginning of each month. Although most of the voting for the February 2009 Photograph of the Month occurred during the voting in the final round of the 2008 Photograph of the Year contest, we still managed to pick a winner.

There’s lots of voting going on this month: first, round 1 of the 2008 Photograph of the Year contest, then the final round of the 2008 Photograph of the Year contest, and finally, we have our monthly Photograph of the Month contest, which we vote on during the last week of every month.

Lei of Tangs by Reeflections is the December 2008 Photograph of the Month

December 2008 Photograph of the MonthThere were 15 photographs that made it to the final voting thread for the December 2008 Photograph of the Month contest (including two that got auto-entered because they were the winners of the Premiere Projects over the past month). Though there weren’t a ton of votes (what’s up with that? Too lazy to check out some photos and cast your vote??!), Reeflections pulled off his second PotM victory in 3 months to take the December 2008 PotM crown with his photograph of a Hawaiian green sea turtle being cleaned by a school of yellow tangs.

December 2008 Photograph of the Month Voting Time

I can’t believe it’s the last week of November already - where did November go??! As we’ve done for over 4 years, the last week of the month means it’s time to vote for the Photograph of the Month. For whatever reason, when we started doing the Photograph of the Month contests, we did the voting for the PotM for the next month; so in August, we’d vote for the September Photograph of the Month, and in May, we’d vote for the June Photograph of the Month, etc. I guess the thinking is that the winning photograph would be displayed in the next month. Some people think it’s a little weird (like we should vote for the November Photograph of the Month at the end of November). Oh well. It’s worked for 4.5 years, so it’s too late to change it now, right?

Richard Peters Wins 2nd Photograph of the Month

Following the voting period at the end of each month, we tally the votes and crown a photograph as the Photograph of the Month. This month richard peters, for the second time in 2008, has one of his photograph declared the Photograph of the Month. His photograph “Red Deer in Sunrise Mist” picked up over 25% of the votes (and you can check out the voting results here).

Over the past week, the community has been voting on 10 fantastic photographs, and the winner was announced today… Reeflections (aka Mike Roberts) with his photograph Morning Tides.

Jim Harris Wins August 2008 Photograph of the Month Contest

Despite the fact that the voting and the winner announcement was a couple of days later than normal, that, by no means, makes the winning photograph any less than fantastic. Jim Harris (aka jaharris1001) of Deltona, Florida won the August 2008 Photograph of the Month contest with his photo titled “Pilons and Morning Colors.”
