Remember last week when we finally moved into our new, super-fast server? Well, we’re finally all settled in. The Corner is faster than ever, but we’re not done there! Later today (9am EST Monday morning), we’re going to shut the forum down for a bit, and upgrade the forum software. It honestly shouldn’t be offline for more than an hour, but expect the forum to be a little buggy throughout the day, as we fix minor issues. Once we come back online, I’ll post in the Corner Blog again, and we’ll try to get everything fixed ASAP. Less than a month ago we announced the 2008 Server Fundraiser project. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, we’ve been having around the Corner lately, and that we’ll soon need to move ourselves to a bigger and better server. In comes the 2008 Server Fundraiser. In addition to the 2008 Server Fundraiser page, I’ve added a banner at the top of the main forum page so that everyone can keep track of how we’re doing. So far, we’ve raised over 60% of our goal of $2,500 with over $1,500 in donations. Less than $1,000 to go! So what are you waiting for? Get your donations in!!! You’ll even get some cool stuff in return for donating, and one person will receive a Lowepro Stealth Reporter D550 AW camera bag! I have one of these bags myself, and it rocks.

Since the big traffic surge from the 2007 Photograph of the Year contest, the server that hosts PhotographyCorner has been running at pretty much maximum capacity. More traffic and more people is always good, but, as some of you have noticed, we’re causing strain on the server. Read more »

Well, after fighting with the code and servers for the past 24 or so hours, the upgrade looks like it’s complete. I’ve already done some tests, and the new server is WAY faster than the one we were on. You should notice a HUGE difference. Read more »
