Voting for the September 2010 Photograph of the Month

August is coming to a close (I can’t believe it’s almost September already), and that means it’s time for us to cast our votes for the upcoming Photograph of the Month. Every month, during the last week of each month, the PhotographyCorner community gets together and the Premiere Members nominate photographs posted to the Corner from the past month (in the forums or galleries). I have the arduous job of narrowing down those nominations to 15 or so photographs. Then the community has 7 days to cast their vote. Around the first of each month, the winner is announced and is featured on the homepage of PhotographyCorner for the entire month.

You can check out the 15 photographs up for the honors here in the September 2010 Photograph of the Month Photo Gallery, then head on over to the voting thread to make your decision. The contest is sponsored by M-Rock, a leading manufacturer of high quality camera, camcorder, lens bags, sling-backpacks and travel cases for professional photographers and enthusiasts. If the winner is a Premiere Member, they will receive a M-Rock Yellowstone 651 Holster Camera Bag (read the newly posted review of it here). If the winner is not a Premiere Member, they will receive a M-Rock Mesa Verde 644 Compact Camera Bag (read the newly posted review of it here).

There are some fantastic photographs up for the September 2010 Photograph of the Month, including two by Scott111184, Eric Diller and cup4tml. So make sure to swing by the award thread before the end of the month to cast your vote. On September 1st, we’ll announce the winner and award them with a new M-Rock camera bag and Photograph of the Month honors! Read more »

Which Digital Darkroom Creation Should Win CCC#76?

While most of our Contest Corner Challenge contests are ‘photography-theme’ based (ie - take a photograph of _______), every once and a while we like to do a contest for those that love the digital manipulation side of the art of photography. About once a year we try to do a “Digital Darkroom” Contest Corner Challenge where we supply a dozen or so photographs, and then ask the community to take at least 3 of those photograph (or all of them), and meld them together to create a new “digital creation.” The entry period came to a close a couple of days ago, and 18 people stepped up to the plate and merged the photographs together, and now it’s time to vote on who did the best job.

You can browse through the entries, as well as the original photographs here in the CCC#76: Digital Darkroom #4 Photo Gallery, then head on over to the voting thread to cast your vote.

The contest sponsor is none other than Amazon.com - find and discover anything you might want to buy online at the lowest possible prices. Amazon.com and other sellers offer millions of unique new, refurbished and used items in categories such as beauty, health and personal care, jewelry and gourmet food, sports and outdoors, apparel and accessories, books, music, DVDs, electronics (cameras & photography equipment!), office, toys and baby, and home and garden. In addition, a portion of the cost of every product purchased through this link goes to support PhotographyCorner.com (what are you waiting for, go buy some stuff!!)! If the winner is a Premiere Member, they will receive a Slik Monopod 350. If the winner is not a Premiere Member, they will receive a Lifetime, Level I Premiere Membership.

We’ve got until approximately 2:15am EST (6:15am GMT) on Thursday, August 12th, 2010 to cast your vote, so decide who did the best job, and cast your vote hereRead more »

Voting for the June 2010 PotM Better Late Than Never

Usually, during the last week of every month, the community gets together to vote on the best photographs posted in the forums over the past month. Usually. Things have been a little crazy around the PhotographyCorner offices lately (in addition to me being on vacation), so unfortunately, voting got pushed back. If you check out the photos, though, I think you’ll agree it was probably worth the wait. Take a look at the 15 photographs nominated for the June 2010 Photograph of the Month contest. I know, right? They are Fantastic. But now the hard part: you have to pick just one. You have to cast your vote here in the voting thread.

Because we’re so late voting this month, we’ve shortened the number of days to vote from 7 to 5 (just this month), so you’ve only got until approximately 7:30pm EST (11:30pm GMT) on Monday on June 7th, 2010 to make up your mind. It may take you until then to decide, so head on over to the voting thread to get started.

The contest is being sponsored by Tamron - one of the world’s leading manufacturers of photographic lenses. If the winner is a Premiere Member, they will receive a Tamron SP AF 10-24mm Aspherical (IF) Lens (a $499 value!! - That’s a pretty sweet deal for being a Premiere Member, eh? ). If the winner is not a Premiere Member, they will receive a Tamron Domke bag and strap.

So what are you waiting for??! Cast your vote ASAP! Read more »

Cast as Many Votes as You Want for CCC#74

The entries kept pouring on in, and when the entry period came to a close, the Contest Corner Challenge #74: …Bring May Flowers Photo Gallery filled up with 54 entries to weed (pun intended) through. Grab a cup of tea or coffee and take a little time to browse through these fantastic flower photographs here.

That’s when the hard part begins, though, as it’s up to the PhotographyCorner community to vote on a winner. Instead of voting for just 1 photograph, however, because there are so many entries, we’ve tried to make it a little easier on you. Now, vote for as many photographs as you’d like. Head on over to the voting thread to check it out for yourself. Put a check mark in the box next to the photos you’d like to vote for, press vote, and voila! - your votes are counted towards each of the photos.

Voting ends around 3:00am EST on Friday, May 21st, 2010 (7:00am GMT), so make sure you take some time to check out the photographs and cast your vote before then. The contest is being sponsored by Red River Paper - Inkjet paper from inkjet paper experts. Look for reviews of new photographic paper and greeting card paper available from Red River Paper coming soon to the Corner Resource Center. In addition, a portion of every purchase made at Red River Paper through this link goes towards supporting the Corner - get some great paper and support your favorite photography site at the same time! If the winner is a Premiere Member, they will receive a prize pack of a variety of greeting card and paper products courtesy of Red River Paper. If the winner is not a Premiere Member, they will receive a Lifetime, Level I Premiere Membership.

So what are you waiting for??! Check out the entries and cast your vote today! Read more »

Pick the May 2010 Photograph of the Month - Tamron Macro Lens to the Winner

Tamron SP AF60mm F2 Di II LD (IF) 1:1 Macro LensEvery month, during the last week of the month, we gather together as a community and cast our votes for the best photograph posted up on PhotographyCorner over the past month. Throughout the month, Premiere Members have the opportunity to nominate photographs they come across in the forums and galleries, then, as the last week of the month approaches, I have the difficult task of narrowing those nominations down to 10-15 photographs. Voting for the May 2010 Photograph of the Month began late last night/early this morning, and you can see the photos that I finally got whittled down in the May 2010 Photograph of the Month Gallery.

Once you’ve had a chance to browse through the photographs, click your way over to the May 2010 Photograph of the Month Voting Thread to cast you vote - voting ends at 2:00am EST on Saturday, May 1st, 2010 (6:00am GMT).

The contest is sponsored by one of our favorite lens manufacturers: Tamron. Among its many optical and mechanical innovations since the founding of the company in 1950, Tamron’s development of mass-produced hybrid aspherical elements paved the way for today’s compact high ratio zoom lenses when, in 1992, this technology was incorporated into the groundbreaking 28-200mm. Tamron continues to lead in this category with the award-winning 18-270mm — featuring an unprecedented 15X zoom range - and featuring Tamron’s proprietary Vibration Compensation (VC) system.

Now, for the prizes… if the winner is not a Premiere Member, they will receive a Lifetime, Level 2 Premiere Membership (a $129 value)… but if the winner is a Premiere Member, they will receive a SP AF60mm F2 Di II LD (IF) 1:1 Macro Lens (a $569 value!! - pick one up for yourself today!) WOW!

Your vote may decide who picks themselves up a brand new Tamron Macro Lens - cast your vote today! Read more »

2009 PotY Voting Delayed & PPotY Voting Announced

It’s taken longer than expected to wade through the entries for the 2009 Photograph of the Year contest, so voting is going to be delayed a day or two. To tide you over, however, voting for the Premiere Project of the Year contest has just begun! Premiere Projects are theme based, and with each project, Premiere Members have the opportunity to challenge themselves to grow as photographers. Each projects outlines a topic for the members to photograph. The photos are then submitted for discussion/critiquing/reactions. At the end of the project period (there’s a new project every couple of weeks), a vote is held to determine which photo best represents the theme while maintaining high photographic quality.

Today, for the first time ever, the community will vote for the best Premiere Project photograph from the past year. Originally the vote was only going to be among Premiere Members in the Premiere Members Only Section of PhotographyCorner, but the Premiere Members wanted to open voting up to the community at large in attempts to encourage non Premiere Members to support the Corner and become Premiere Members themselves. To that end, the HALF PRICE Premiere Membership sale will continue through to the end of the voting for this contest. Learn about Premiere Membership here, and sign up to become a Premiere Member for HALF PRICE here.

The contest is being sponsored by DayMen Photo Marketing, and the winner will receive a prize pack courtesy of Daymen valued at over $100.

Check out the entries and cast your vote in the voting thread in the Photograph of the Year forum. Voting ends on January 15th, 2010.

To participate in future Premiere Projects, sign up to become a Premiere Member here for HALF PRICE (for a limited time only). Read more »
