Selling/shipping your photography prints

Hi everyone. As you can see, I'm new to these forums. I was hoping some of you can maybe give me some information.

I'm pretty new to photography. I have recently put on a few sites some photos of mine to sell (individual prints). I'm not so worried about the price right now, but what need is some information on the actually shipping of the prints (in case somehow one actually sells). Could any of you maybe give me a little information on how you go about selling and shipping your prints? At the moment I am only selling 5 x 7 and 8 x 10 prints. Any information on framing or matting and packaging, etc. would help me out alot.

I wouldn't bother framing or matting them. Rarely if you look at other people selling on the net do they sell them framed or matted, simply because it makes shipping so much more costly and difficult. It's very easy for the buyer to have the print framed locally. If your prints are smaller than A4 (8x10 is), the easiest way to package them is to put them in a cardboard 'please do not bend' envelope, possibly in an acid free bag. Very simple really.

Many of my customers place their orders online and I regularly send prints up to 8 X 10 size through the mail. I use photo mailers that are available at Office Depot. I have never had a problem.

Best Wishes :D

What about larger prints? I suppose a tube would be fine, right? I just don't know how a customer would feel paying $$$ for a fine print and getting it rolled up in the mail.

I just picked up some photo mailers at Staples today. I have to ship a couple of photos in a few days.

Thanks for the replies! :D
