Hello everyone,
I recently joined this forum in hopes of meeting some new folks and learning some tips and tricks for using the new camera my wife recently bought me, as well as sharing some of the stuff I learn and some photos I shoot.
About my gear:
I have a Canon Digital XT that she purchased in a kit, including a Sigma 28-70 1:2-8:4 lens, a Sigma 70-300 1:4-5:6 DG lens, and I already had a Tamron AF 28-200 1:3.8-5.8 lens for a Canon EOS, which seems to work fine with the digital camera, other than the 1.6 ratio aspect which I recently learned about in an article in Popular Photography magazine. For storage, the kit included a 4 GB Compact Flash Microdrive (which I absolutely love).
About me:
I am not a professional photographer, but have been more of a photography novice most of my 44 years. Some of the cameras I have owned in the past included a Canon AE-1, a Vivitar 35 mm, a Minolta Maxxim 5000 (which I still own), and a variety of point-and-shoot digital cameras.
Unfortunately, I haven't had a lot of advanced training in photography, and even though my imaginative flair has resulted in some pretty nice photos over the years, there remains much for me to learn (I'm talking about 'the down-and-dirty basics").
I am a Graphics Artist/Digital Artist by trade, so Photoshop (6 thru CS) and other photo editing software comes as second nature to me. I support several local photographers in editing their wedding and studio portraits already, but hope to branch out and start taking some fantastic pictures of my own.
Thanks for having me, and thanks for reading the book I just typed... :D
