JungleKittY September 10th, 2004, 05:13 PM I recently went to get my pictures developed from my friend's wedding and when I went back to pick up the pictures...to my horror....the technician told me that there was no film in the cartridge to begin with. I don't need to tell you just how upset I was. My friend's wedding pictures...ALL GONE. I had nothing. He took apart the cartridge and showed me that there was a spindle inside with a little piece of film on it and nothing else.
Did this happen to anybody else? I can't believe KODAK has such poor quality control. Other people's memories are at stake here.
:x
Tim L. Walker September 10th, 2004, 05:15 PM That's awful! Was it just one roll, or multiple rolls??! I'm surprise the camera didn't pick up that there was no film... that's strange.
Welcome to PhotographyCorner, btw. :D
JungleKittY September 10th, 2004, 05:20 PM Fortunately it was only 1 roll of film. I had originally brought in 2 rolls, one with the wedding and one of her bachelorette party. I don't understand why my camera didn't pick it up. I heard it wind up and everything. So sad.
Thanks for the warm welcome
Tin-Cup September 10th, 2004, 05:21 PM that is incredible....i would get on to them if i were you they might give you some free films....
Tim L. Walker September 10th, 2004, 05:22 PM Yeah, I bet you could get some free film from kodak for that... let us know if they give you some sort of "explanation" for the mistake. What kind of camera were you using?
JungleKittY September 10th, 2004, 05:25 PM I wrote to Kodak this morning. I had to calm down a bit from last night or else I may have written something that would be very unpleasant. I will let you know what sort of excuse they give me.
FYI, I was using the Canon ELPH..I'm not sure which exact model.
Tim L. Walker September 11th, 2004, 01:00 AM Yeah, let us know what happens for sure. :D In the meantime, enjoy the forums. :P
GerryDavid September 11th, 2004, 05:00 AM Maybe the lab messed up and decided to say "there was no film", cept for the little bit where they cut the film off to develop it. Just a thought I had when reading this.
Guess thats the perk to digital, till you forget to put a memory card in it. :0).
Welcome to the forum.
Galaxy_Stranger September 14th, 2004, 09:37 PM Just keep in mind that the warranty on the film doesn't include damages from the loss of images, just the film that was purchased.
Besides, I wouldn't trust an automated system AT ALL to shoot anything important, aside from the image quality issues...
Did you hear that Kodak's discontinuing Advancrap? YAAAAAY!!!
JungleKittY September 14th, 2004, 10:48 PM Well I was sorta suspicious when the photo lab returned me the empty cartridge. Could it be possible that the lab and accidently destroyed the film during processing? It would be strange that my camera never picked up the defective film considering that the counter on the camera was still working fine and there was no indication that there was no film.
Kodak did respond to me. They said that they've never encountered such a problem before and that they will send me a new roll.
I was contemplating a digital camera but like the regular cameras there are problems. I guess the only memories that I can keep forever are the ones in my head. Too bad they fade with age as well...ha ha :D
herins September 14th, 2004, 11:17 PM What were we talking about?
herins September 14th, 2004, 11:18 PM :D
Why can I still not find the winking emoticon???
Tim L. Walker September 15th, 2004, 12:08 AM ;) It's there.
Back to the thread, though... I do find it weird that your camera didn't pick up that there was no film there... you'd think that it would... you might want to re-question the lab or something...
