Wanderer in Jasper

My brother's girlfriend threw the ball for the dogs before realizing this bull elk was walking by. Luckily, he didn't notice, and the dogs came when called! One of the dogs is a 4 month old pup, so we were lucky he followed my parents' dog rather than becoming interested in the guest! It is mating season, so the male elks are wandering around looking for mates. They make a really high-pitched sound and rub their antlers all over the ground. Very majestic!

Not a great photo, but I was paying attention to the dogs!!

Hehe... yeah, you wouldn't want to mess with that... ;) How was your trip to Jasper?

Gorgeous! We stayed in a cabin on Maligne lake and the weather was gorgeous. We went hiking and canoeing and sailing without a sail (and my brother fell in the lake, which is glacier water-so very cold!! ha hah hhahahhha). It was very hard to leave!

I can imagine... my fiancée and I might be doing our honeymoon out that way... ;)

That's where I had my honeymoon, too! And we finished it off in Vancouver! Very nice. I definitely prefer Jasper to Banff.

Look at that rack! Good thing the dog didn't have to tangle with it. Nice shot. It sounds like a great place to go and your pictures show how beautiful it is. Glad you had a nice trip.

Very nice shot! It's always nice to see Elk in the wild. We have an elk farm up here but I still haven't managed to get the perfect shot. I have got a few of Moose, but they aren't very good..lol

Yeah. Animals are very different in the wild. I haven't seen a moose in a while. We did see a huge coyote, but that was it. We also saw warning signs when we were hiking due to a cougar sighting. That would be freaky.

Animals are fun to watch in the wild. I should have tried harder to go to Algonquin park this summer, theres lots of nice animals there. Last time I seen a huge moose or something like that.
