ELSA

Meet Elsa......this is a 2'x3' commission I just just completed, for a Dr's office wall,...and yes, it's her baby!

I'm wondering about your feeling with the signature,....any siging on art work? As many of you probably know, I am pretty agnostic to signing on the face, as once, years ago, I was told by a very reknowned artist glaring at my work,..."Why don't you just hang a sign on you that sez, Dig Me!,.....that is what this is all about, kid!, or else it's plain ol' grafitti.....either way it's distracting to the pic.". Ergo, I don't sign on the front,....ah usually, now I'm being asked to by this client. So, I'm wondering what your feelings are about signage??? ...or anyother feedback too?? Thanks......

I know absolutely nothing about photography other than what I looks pretty to me. I have had a few people ask me to sign a print for them (friends and hockey moms) but I have no idea how that is supposed to work.

I have no problems with names going on the photos. However, color selection is important. The neon greenish look on black draws to much interest to the wrong area. Things to be careful of is size and color of the text. Sell the photo, not your name is what I guess I am saying. This is just my thoughts however. But as far as the signing part, look at any painting and you will most of the time see a name on it. By the way, the photo looks great. You done an excellent job on the capture. Keep up the good work.

Great picture here Mike, Beautiful dog as well. As far as a signature..yeah, I always hate that personally but if you're being asked to add one by a client, you don't have a choice really. I would go discreetly, off the main subject definitely. Don't know alot about this one Mike, but love the picture.

Beautiful shot. As for the signage, my mother always jumped my case for not signing anything I made (most of my crafts were wall hanging type things). I kind of like the signing on the photo, as long as it doesn't detract from the photo itself. In this case, I probably would have chosen a color off the dog and used that for the signature. Of course, many people will sign on the back of the photo -- but if the client wants it up front -- then up front it should be!

I see nothing wrong with signing your work as long as it doesn't take away from the photo. Very pretty dog and nice shot!

I see nothing wrong with signing the photo either. In fact, I think it kind of adds credibility to your work, if done discretely. Around here, the studio's signature is always on professional photos. This presentation is great. The signature is there (as requested by your client), and it, in no way, distracts one's eye from this beautiful photo. This is very well done -- photo and signature.

Small, not distracting signatures don't bother me. I'd probably go with a color off of the dog as well.

As for feedback, per my 2 year old...

That's a doggie! A pretty doggie! WOOF!

Great Picture - I love the expression on it's face. I know it's hard toget the right moment when working with dogs. Especially when the dogs thinks there smarter then you - Like my two.

As far as the signature thing - I think it adds a bit of professionalism to the work.
