In the market for a lens

As most of you know I have the Canon 300D (Digital Rebel). I have the lens that came with the camera and now I am ready to purchase an additional lens.

My problem, being a newbie, I am not sure what to get!

The problem I have now with the lens that came with the camera is that if a subject is far away I cannot zoom in close enough.

So I guess I am in the market for a zoom lens? I am just not sure what to get.

Any suggestions?

I have the 75-300 and it's a nice lens. Should get you zoomed in to where you want to be :) It's not all that expensive either. :) (mostly because it's not all that fast, but it's fast enough for most)

Jaymz: For a lens there are many options. It all depends on what you wnt and where you see yourself in future.

If you buy a cheap lens today, you might regret it in future, as with experience you might want to have a better lens.

If you see yourself upgrading down the line in future, then my advice is buy the best today.

As going slow, from cheap to best, you will see that you have spent more.
