which degree is better photojournalism or photography

i want to do either. and i just wonder if most classes will just over lap any. but the qustion if i was applying for a photography job anywhere from wedding to newspaper. do u think they would say well you have a degree in this and we want this or since its a degree they would say your hired?

I was talking to a journalism professor of mine the other day about Photojournalism (I'm a journalism major) and I think if you have a photography fine arts degree you can do it (photojournalism if there's not a program at your school) and with that you can probably do weddings and such as well. That's what I've heard, anyway. I'd talk to professional photographers and maybe a photojournalist to see what they say. As for class overlap, I think it depends on the program. In my case, my school doesn't offer a photojournalism degree, but I think if I got a journalism degree and combined with a fine arts degree in photography, I could do either or. I think it would be to your advantage to have both, but that's just me.
