Soft 'n sharp

Guess where I was (again) this evening 8)
Trying to find your way back to the top at dusk is kind of tough, but at least there's no more mosquitos.

I tried a couple of snaps out, I need a wide angle attachment but still turned out alright. The trees look funny but I can't control the wind. Do these shots remind you of another one I recently posted? :)

Maybe I can try this again when the leaves are turned.

Yeah, Rob, they turned out quite well... do you have the exif for them? Did you do any color adjustments? The first one looks really good, but the 2nd might need a little touch up. ;) As for the wind... meh.. what can ya do? ;)

I really like these Rob. The color is fantastic. Love the softness of the water too. Well done.

The first one I like over the 2nd one, but I love the smoothness of both, regardless of the wind.

I like the first one better too, I think I left a little too much blue in the second. The color on both was way out of whack because the Niagara River has to be the most difficult subject to get an accurate white balance, and I didn't have my white card with me. So shoot on auto white balance and adjust it in PS7...works well in most cases.

The second is actually a combination of two bracketed shots at 0 and +1 EV.

I love Photoshop ;)

#1:
Aperture priority, 1 sec exposure, ISO 160, F5.6. Filters used: UV and CPOL.

#2:
Aperture priority, 1 sec + 1/2 sec exposures, ISO 160, F.9.0. Filters used: UV and CPOL.

Thanks for the comments :)

Edit: BTW that is the real color of the water, not a PS snafu

Hard to pick one over the other. Both look great.

I really like the first one Rob. Good job on the shutter speed there, and that is a really interesting color to the water. Did you do any saturation on this?

I think I bumped the saturation +5 just to give it a little boost. The water actually is that emerald color though.
