Check... test... is this thing on?

Hi everybody! My buddy Tyger told me about your forum here, and I couldn't resist signing up.

I'm pretty new to the world of photography. I took a few courses back in school (a lot of years ago!), and just recently got my first digital camera. There's so much to learn that it seems a little overwhelming sometimes, but I find photography a relaxing and fun hobby, mostly because it teaches me to look at the world in new and different ways.

My camera (a Canon PowerShot S2 1S 5.0 mp) still has lots of settings that I still don't understand, so I hope some of you veterans can teach me a thing or two! ;)
