it's called a sparrow hawk. it's a protected bird in the UK. prays on small birds by suprise low level swoops

That third shot is cool, almost like the bird knows how to pose for the camera. Did you use a mirror lens?

Very cool! It looks like a miniature of the hawks we have here in Ohio. I miss the shot everytime I'm close to one here. They're protecting them so I see more and more every year though. The claws on this one look so out of proportion to the rest of him.
