Canon 20D with 540EZ off camera?

Hi Folks,

I just bit the bullet and went digital with a 20D. I exclusively shoot macro.
I was hoping to be able to use my two 540EZ speedlights in Manual mode.
On camera the 540EZ works great in Manual of course, but it doesn't seem to work with the hotshoe so that I can't use the 540EZ off camera.

let me know if anyone has some suggestions other than buying into the EX series!

Well, I don't currently have a 20D, but my guess is that you're going to have to go with something like the 550EX or 420EX. The 420EX isn't that expensive, but it's also not anywhere near as nice as the 550.

I'm pretty sure the EZ series won't talk to the camera through the hotshoe. But I've been proven wrong before.

I'm pretty sure Soopah is right. The EZs are not meant for the digital cameras.
