What 5 backdrops would you choose if you could only choose 5?
I ask this because I dont like looking at the 100000 choices and haveing to make my mind up. Especially when most look the same.

I know most people would say...
White
Black...

Now consider backdrops being used for multiple uses like for hollidays and such...

What other choices would you make?

Interesting question. I really wouldn't know though! lol

Yes, I love black and white! I think if I had only 2, these would be it. I have 8 colors but 90% of the time, it's the black one.. then some white.

I think the choice of colors or designs will definitely change from one person to another based on the style of photography you'd like to achieve. I, for example, like to shoot some abstract shadows or shapes against Red or Blue... I even once used Pink and Green for some nieces and nephews portraits and kept changing the backdrop to contrast with (or to enhance) the colors of what they're wearing.

So, if I HAD to choose, I'd go: Black, White, Grey, Red and Green.

Or Blue.

or Pink! lol

Why not just buy a chroma green screen and digitally insert any background you want?

Because chroma looks like *** on a cracker Carl. At least, I've never seen it done well.

I of course keep the regulation black, and white. I also keep green, blue, and a neutral pink/brown on hand. I have a really beautiful one that's sort of a green/grey with some orange and purple accents that though it doesn't sound pretty, photographs like a million bucks.

Well, that answers that! :) I've never used it myself....I don't do studio work and have just heard others talk about the merits of it.

man...this site is so slow I'm beginning to think that I'm using my 1985 300baud dial up modem....this sucks!

Soopah really has a way with words I see.

I think I am with Faisal here---nothing too fancy, just some colors. One can do a lot of different things with just a color backdrop.

I have done Chroma backdrops ...as a matter of fact I painted one wall a very intense green color for that reason...

The thing with chroma is you have to have plenty of room between your subject and backdrop as light fall off will kill your attempts....Especially around the hair.
