This was nicely put. I commend him on this comment.

Why would a photographer, specifically an amateur photographer, want their own website? Why would an amateur photographer choose a BIG Folio website over a free photo-hosting site like Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/) or Picasa by Google (http://picasa.google.com/) (or even The Corner Galleries (http://www.photographycorner.com/forum/../galleries))?

I think an amateur photographer would want their own website if they plan on becoming a professional photographer. In all honesty, sites like Flickr are both functional and valuable for those who do not require a full website solution.

Exactly... no point in some people having a full website solution - especially with the abundance of free, though not as professional options.
