Shot with a Lumix L1 and Leica 14-50 zoom.

Would be interested on some feedback about the deep shadow area on the right. Too much? Too dark? Just right? Thanks, Rick.

I have mixed feelings on the shadow. On one hand, it draws attention. On another, it defines the interesting cutouts in the window. I don't know if you edited it any or not, but is it darker than the other shadows or are my eyes just playing tricks on me? In any case, I don't find it too dark.

The composition of this shot is really good. Very nice diagonals formed from the pedestrian to the interesting window which is mimicked by the shadow of the building roofline.

What's going on with the window just above and to the right of the pedestrian's head? Shadow from something or what?

Nice tonality and focus!

Hey Carl, the shadow on the right was just about the way you see it. It was really, really dark. I went in and lightened the frames of the window to make them stand out a bit. The shadow over the guy's head is from some kind of lamp post across the street. I tried to clone it out, but it looked weird, and I am not that great at doing that kind of thing anyway. So I just left it in. It is a bit distracting though, isn't it?

The cut out figures on top- one of them is John Wayne and I am not sure about the other one. They have been in direct light for so long that they have just about faded to a complete white color. This was shot early in the morning, just as the sun was coming up over the tall buildings in downtown Fort Worth, hence the deep shadows and strong contrast.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Carl. It is always nice to get some feedback from other eyes besides my own. 8)

ahhh...i see it's a street lamp now that you've pointed it out. Yes, it is quite distracting, mainly because the way the pole shadow is hidden and you only see the blob. I generally try to minimize cloning out things, but this is one I'd consider doing...or at least trying to minimize somehow.

The two cutouts in the window really add a lot to this composition for me. Love it.

The shadow is just as it should be, Rick, that's how you found it, that's how streets are, dark sides, light sides, plays of light everywhere you look. The guy is heading towards the 'dark', being watched by paper people from above. The upside down stools visible in the windows, the head down of the walker makes me wonder if this is early morning before opening hours, is he heading off to work..or just coming home. It's one of those images I can get a little lost in..in a good way.

The shadows are being watched over by the cowboys - so, he is safe.

I don't mind the big shadow either, but do find the other one drawing my eye. The streetlight (now that I know what it is) casts a shadow that reminds me of sunglasses. In another vein, it might have been neat if you caught this when the guy was just past them, almost like he was being looked at from behind the 'shades'. But that would be a different story. :-D Anyway, I really do like the lines and details in the building.
