D100 ?

I have had my D100 for about 1 year now...? Anyone else using one and what do you think of it....What are the differences in it and the D70.?

I dont have the D100, but I have the D70. I think the differences are that the D100 was made out of metal while the D70 is made out of plastic. and the D70 has a more advaced, or redone file system. improved from the D100. And the D70 has a more advanced lighting system than the D100, other than that I dont know what else is different.

Will do...One of my best friends has one. We trade up sometime...The D70 came out just after I made the big purchase.

What I mean is they have a new D70 now. Will be released in May, called D70s.

fastest shutter on d70 s 1/8000 as opposed to 1/4000 on d100
iso on d100 can go upto 6400

flash sync on d70 is 1/500 as compared to 1/180 on d100
and there are many more differences

D70s has new menus over the older D70 and it has a larger screen 2.0"! Faster focusing on the D70s versus the D70 and a few other things.

Do the D70's have more of different options in the menus or are they just color coded?

d70's firmware will be upgraded to d70s's by around mid may and this upgrade concerns focusing and menu. I guess after this upgrade the d70s and d70 will be same in menu and focussing.

yes d70 has a port for external flash
I am talking about remote shutter release. the only option with d70 is wireless remote shutter release.

with d70s you get two option, the wired and the wireless

Where can you purchase the wireless remote for the D70? Do you have an actual part number?
My father-in-law has a D70 and would be interested in the remote

nikon will release the firmware upgrade for d70b around mid may and it will have instructions on how to upgrade.

I am guessing it would be pretty much like the first 2 upgrades.

Kix, Nikon will be releasing the upgrade in mid may for all of us D70 owners and it will bring the firmware up equal to the D70s model. From what I understand the only difference are the hardware ones like the lcd screen and the wire shutter release. The upgrade is free, or so I have read on other sites, one had a press release by Nikon on it stating these facts..

Sooo....how do you get it? Hook the cam up to your pc and dl it or what?

If it's similar to firmware upgrades for Canon, you'll download it to your harddrive and transfer it to your memory card and install it from there. Pretty simple.

Anyone have the D70 remote?
I was wondering about it and whether or not it works BOTH in front of the camera as well as from behind the camera...

It doesn't work that well from behind the camera. However, I have found a device to rectify this problem.
