I was wondering if anyone has used this lens. I was told by someone that I should find a Image Stabilizer lens and this was the one that I found that I could afford. Can someone please help me. I was also wondering how the image stabilizer works, does in work all the time or is there a switch to turn it off, does it work at 75-300 or just one point. I was also wondering if the Canon 2X teleconverter would work with this lens. I have a quartaray but dont know if i should use that or buy the canon. Thanks, Nathan

This lens tends to be soft at the 200-300 range, but acceptable. The IS in this lens is the older style and not as effective as the newer styles. It has an on/off switch and must be set to off when on a tripod (the newer ones can remain on). The IS works throughout the range. I would not advise using a TC with this lens as it will only degrade the image, but if you already own the TC and have a need for longer range, it will work in a pinch provided you have sufficient lighting (although you will lose AF and have to manually focus).
