correct my spelling if I'm wrong (diffuser?) anyways, I am interested in purchasing a flash diffuser to help soften some shots while taking indoor sports pics. I own a cannon rebel film camera with two lenses..one is the quantaray 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 macro option. this is the lense I'm using in which I need a flash diffuser. My flash is also quantaray, 6600(whatever that means :?: ) zoom bounce. any suggestions appreciated. :D

The lens you're using is a touch slow for indoor sports. I'd imagine you'd want as much light as you can get, a diffuser cuts down on some light. Also, at 300mm your flash won't help out very much. For what purpose/ effect are you wanting the diffuser?
But....if you must have one for this (or at least need one for other stuff, for which they're great for)....I HIGHLY recommend Gary Fong's lightsphere. I just got mine this weekend, shot a whole wedding with it and was soooo impressed! It's pretty ugly. I keep getting cravings for chicken noodle soup when I put it on, but dang this thing works!!

could you recommend one? still leraning the basics. I recently photographed a skatboard documentary switching back and forth from this lens to my 28-90mm. mostly shot in"tv" mode due to inexperience in manual settings. Kept most of my shots at 1/2000 some with flash and some without. I also tried a few with slower shutter speed and actually tried panning a couple of times but film is'nt back yet. anyways, the reason I asked is because there was a pro-photographer their who was obviously hired by the doc team because he was right in the sweet spots the entire time. He had two cameras and the both had diffusers on them so I was curious if this was necessary to help soften lighting or something :?:
thanks for the responce btw
:D

Many will say that with digital a diffuser is a necessity. I like the light better than direct flash, that's why I use it. The Gary Fong lightsphere just gives a nice light scattered about all together. Whether it's a necessity for you or not is debatable.
As far as lenses go....ideally I'd suggest a telephoto that has a constant f/2.8 aperture. Of course a 400mm is about 8 thousand dollars!

You can probably find some on ebay for your flash. Or go the cheap way and get $2 worth of iintrfacing from a material store and put that infront of the flash. Apperantly it doesnt change the color temperature of the flash. Its what my lighting techniques teacher uses on his flash.
