hey guys,
i have recently bought a d70 kit with the 18-70mm lense, and i love it.
i am thinking of gettin a new lense now, i have looked at the nikon web site for all the lenses.
but im not too sure what i am looking to get next, i am interested in macro photography and i love photoing animals, flowers and insects.
but also me and my girlfriend have started going out for walks in the countryside and i will enjoy talking some pics there, but will the 18-70mm lense be ok for that or should i spring for sumthin more special?
ne help would be great.

I would suggest getting something in the 70~200mm range with a macro mode and a tripod.

the 50mm is a solid piece of glass, Im not sure of the nikon one but I love canons version. A friend of mine shoots it on his D70, fabulous images.

The 18-70mm lens on the D70 will provide all you need for what you'll see along the path on your walks. It offers wide enough angle for scenic shots and long enough for normal portrait shots. It lacks the long end useful for shots of birds and such, but will work fine for most things. I suggest that you learn to see your scenes with the lens you have. Don't be afraid to move in to your scene to capture the shot you want. I'm afraid that zooms have spoiled us. An interesting project is to take one fixed lens (i.e. 50mm) and use it for everything for awhile. It teaches us to explore our subjects for the best shot rather than just pointing the lens and firing from the place we first noticed the subject.

i think i will try and go for both!!!
the fixed 50mm, will be good for close up portraits and flowers. and then the 70-300 may be useful for some landscape shots.
thanks for the input guys

Hello Spiderman2099uk
If you are thinking 70-300 for landscape, I wonder whether you will get what you are thinking to do?
Cuz. the tele lenses are used to capture Birds, some times children pictures, Candit shots etc. For landscapes actually you need wider lenses say anything below 28mm.
Visit my gallery's Landscape section, all the landscapes are shot with 28-90mm kit lens and having 28mm fixed for landscapes.
Hope it helps to you.
