Then the Canon 1Ds Mk II is out of the question. ;) You'll be hard pressed to find a DSLR for $200-$400...

yes i know, but im just wondering if there is a decent dslr for that low. if not then i will just have to be saving money for a while longer.

You may be able to find one used... but I doubt it... I think you'll probably need to save for a while longer... because in addition to the camera body, you'll need a lens as well...

Nikon D70 and Canon Digital Rebel you can get in the upper portion of that price range if you find a good deal...

The best Idea would be to save untill you get around 1000 and spend it on a good camera.

best to save and get a better camera then be frustrated with a not so good camera
