Return to the middle ages?

This is my first ever attempt to do a timereversal on a photo. How do you think it went? (I'm not sure whether to put it here or in the critiques corner, but if it wrong, Tim could prob. help out ;-) )

It looks more authentic with the scratches and such - but I kind of like the original more ;)

It came out quite well, though some of the scratches don't look quite right. ;)

(the photo is fine in here, btw... hehe)

Looks pretty good... can you explain the process you went through to get the finished result?
