I am now leaning towards this lens and was not sure how VR works. If you could let me know that would be great. Is VR going to compromise sharpness or image quality in any way?? I know that it is used for handheld shots but does a lens that has VR, when VR is turned of, does it affect the clarity and overal sharpness of the lens at 400mm or so? Understand what I am asking??

Thanks.

I'm not sure about the compromise, but from what I've heard from people that have used the VR, they did not like it. Most prefer Canon's IS system.

I've heard the same thing. Nikon's VR doesn't have all the kinks worked out.

What is it about nikons VR that is bad or not the best? thanks. So a lens that doesnt have VR would be just as good or better?

Not sharp, don't really work that well.

Talk to Patman10. He has a couple of VR lenses.

He says when the VR is turned on all the shots are out of focus, and the VR drains camera batteries pretty quick.
