yaya02 May 23rd, 2005, 07:50 PM Was up in the mountains this past weekend at a biker rally. Was trying to get some pics of the motorcycles as they came by on the Tail of the Dragon. This is one of my shots, and the first thing I noticed when I downloaded my pictures is that they are all way too blue. At first, I thought this was a result of the direction in which my circular polarizer was set. In getting the photo info, I saw that light source was listed as tungsten. Not sure how THAT happened, but it did. What can be done in PS to "fix" this shot? I tried applying a warming filter, and that helped some, but I'm not sure that I'm 100% happy with that, either.
This is the shot as is (except for a slight cropping). Shot at f11, 1/80, 35 mm focal length.
Thanks.

callady10 May 23rd, 2005, 08:31 PM Have you tried color correction? Also Just a suggestion, if you can't get the color effect you want you can always go B&W. It ususally saves the day!
yaya02 May 23rd, 2005, 08:44 PM Haven't tried color correction, but will look at that a little later. I thought about B&W as well. I was sick when I saw the camera set to tungsten. I must have been trying to change my WB setting and thought I had daylight! Ugh. Thanks for your suggestions.
rachel May 23rd, 2005, 10:37 PM Did you shoot this in RAW or JPEG? If this was shot in RAW you can adjust the white balance to take out the blue when you open the image in photoshop. RAW or JPEG, you can also try making changes to the colour levels (image>adjustment>levels) in photoshop to bring down the blue.
yaya02 May 23rd, 2005, 10:43 PM Shot in JPEG. Haven't started playing with RAW images yet. I'll play with this tonight! Thanks.
rflorence May 23rd, 2005, 11:21 PM yaya02,
Hope you don't mind but I played with it a little. I came up with this.

yaya02 May 24th, 2005, 01:09 AM Looks much better. It would be very helpful if you could post what changes you made to it. I'm going to play with it now and see what I come up with as well.
callady10 May 24th, 2005, 01:28 AM I just wanted to comment on the good job you did with the panning!
yaya02 May 24th, 2005, 01:30 AM Here's my Photoshop attempt at fixing my picture.

Thanks so much. I took a bunch of similar pictures. Some I did well with -- some I didn't. This was probably the best, but boy, was I upset with the color problem!
rflorence May 24th, 2005, 03:10 PM I went into Photoshop. CLicked on Image-Adjustments-Color Balance. I changed the Cyan to +73, Magenta to +14 and Yellow to -43. I then went back into Image-Adjustments and clicked on the Auto Levels, Auto Contrast and Auto Color. This is the result.

yaya02 May 24th, 2005, 06:29 PM Thanks. It was a very relaxing weekend (for a biker rally). This motorcycle was one of approximately 200 in a motorcycle parade!
